As someone who's played through the betas, whats highlighted here is pretty much spot on..theres a few minor things that either A)I didnt know was in there or B)Have been added since the end of the betas. Either way it all looks amazing and Im counting the days! PS..any word on the so called early dl for those beta players and those that preordered?

Hahaha..Bribes?! I literally almost laughed out-loud..which is bad, because im at work. :x Good one Kryo.

Hmm, odd about the achievements.. But thanks Mumble, I certainly see why youve achieved Diplomat status. haha.

So I just completed my first metaverse game and eagerly awaited my metals to be posted. Im sure that these questions have been asked before, humor me? My question is; in the galatic legend, there are a few categories that arent easily identifiable or explained. Most are pretty obvious. But for instance, the Achievements..what are they? Theyre simply numbered as 1-9. I know one is the racial victory correct? And another is the purple heart. At the risk of going through the forums and highlighting

Interesting idea. Sort of like how the minor races are in the beginning of the game? They all start out with a 15PQ homeworld, which makes sense cause theyre not allowed to expand(except for starbases of course). So theyre forced to focus everything into one super world. And also why theyre such a target throughout the game, you grab one of those and youve gained a planet that has as much influence as your home planet if not more. There is of course a way to set this up in the intial game s

Hm..i agree with mumbley. though to be honest, i sorely underutilize the fleet rally option. in fact i had almost forgotten about it lately. Rally points used wisely can save you literally thousands of clicks in a long game. Thats reason enough to explore it a little more finely.

sheesh, 50s..70s?! ive never seen 'em that high. i think the biggest planet ive gotten in a game was a class 1, that i spotted half way through the game on the other side of the galaxy that had been overlooked by the AI. lucky for me a few turns before i got there, the korx(who's space it was in) set off the precursor event where every planet in 2 sectors terraforms 12 levels. turns out that dinky little 1 class turned into a 30!? bet the AI was cursing itself then...

Sounds good. Too bad the epic generator was dropped from Dark Avatar or youd have a much easier job. I love reading stories like these and was sorely dissappointed from learning the generator was getting the axe. :x Does anyone know though, is it just something they couldnt fit into this expansion and is being saved for the next game OR is it done for entirely?

I might be interested in the 'new player' position, even though Ive been a player/member since the original game. Ironically I just started my first metaverse game last night and even more ironic my first character's name is Representative BastianEX. Go figure right? I guess my only questions would be what exactly would my role/duties be? These 'long and confusing posts' what would they entail? I dont mind the reading part, Im already on the forums quite a bit lately.

Ive never really had this problem with population, but if thats what the problem is then maybe just give your race a population bonus in the settings at the beginning of the game? It is definately a tweak in your strategy that is needed(which was the intention of the new planetary ecosystems). Trial and error, see what works best for you in terms of balancing your spending on the research, social and military. Personally, I almost always max out my research spending and leave the other two

Hm, sorry i didnt mean to steam you..i honestly dont know what happened there, thats just what i thought was going on. Best to get an official answer from Kyro(site moderator) or Stardock directly, im sure theyll refund you that money if you want?

Sorry mate, the beta is over..ended like two weeks ago. The devs are working overtime for last minute tweaks and fixes that were brought up by the beta. The final release date for Dark Avatar is Feburary 14th i believe. (Someone correct me if im wrong here.) And it sounds like what youve got is a pre-order to that final release..not the beta.

So, on a previous post just this morning I was informed that DA scores are not being accepted on the metaverse yet. Is there any truth in this and if so, should i continue my current game and still submit it where it will be backlogged until later or should i screw this game and just wait patiently for another two weeks?

Even though it seems everyone on this thread is pro-alliances, I figured Id give a quick update on my idea. It seems to have worked the way I wanted, though Im only half way through my current game. I went in and set each race(playing huge galaxy with the max 9 races) to as close a neutral alignment. With a few exceptions, i gave a race or two +

Ive finally made a commitment to a metaverse game(aka forced myself to sit through an entire game for once to get the end score). Anyways, my question is does the use of the spore technology affect the score at all? Basically Im playing neutral Altarians for a military win and Im about half way through the civs, killed off 5 and 5 more to go. Really the only competition left are the Korath who Ive always had warm relations with and they must have gifted their spore technology

Hmm..lets see. I agree with the epic generator and advanced UP. Not sure how I feel about the Multiplayer issue, but I read a post by Brad saying he'd do it if 'the numbers showed' although only as an expansion pack so not everyone who didnt want it did had to buy it. My picks would have to be.. 1.)Alliance tweaks;aka diplomacy. Less all out alliances and more team alliances maybe, not just good vs. evil. Most games, I see the good and neutral allies and ganging up on anyone n

Technically there are nebulas in the galaxy background, but I dont see why a cloud of interstellar gas and dust would be much fun? Except maybe to hide in it like they like to do in Star Trek. lol. And I seem to remember there being cloaking in GalCiv1, but i dont think it worked the way youd want cause I never used it. ::shrugs::

Hmm...No, No and not sure. Sorry to say, but none of those changed. The only new race pictures are for the Korath and the Krynn. It refuses to let you 'waste resources' on spying on a minor race. And I dont usually ally with Minors, so Im not sure on the last part of your question. They seem to get in too much trouble with the Majors to be worth while in an alliance to begin with.

I personally hate the tweak thats happened with the AI alliances. Its probably just my neutral econ. strategy, but it annoys me to no end with the all-out galactic wars that insue once everyone is allied to everyone else. Its non-stop and it screws with my trade routes! haha. I actually had a brilliant idea this morning to try setting all the civs at either a neutral philosophy or very close to it either way. I havent tried it yet, but Im hoping that a galaxy mostly neutral to eachother wil

Cant say that Ive tried it recently in DA. I usually try to spread out those points as much as I can and shy away from using 8 on a single option. But it makes sense to use this strategy; higher PQ = higher potential population(and in turn taxes) as well as more real estate to build. I wonder if the higher PQ was the reason for the special planetary resource..though i dont think it works that way, isnt it more random? Keep us updated on how it goes, maybe ill try it on my next game.

Im sure its too late for a last minute-minor tweak to the expansion pack? Been playing the betas since they were released and LOVE the improvements so far. Absolutely excellent. What irks me, is it seems the AI places more emphasis on Alliances this time around. I usually play a Neutral, high diplomatic-econ. race through a majority of the game and then about a little more than halfway through after the other civs have fought eachother to the brink of extinction ill work my way in one at a

why pre-emptive spy? just research and selectively build the counter-espionage center. it was added in the last beta and unless you dont have that yet, i highly reccommend it. its not a particularly hard tech to research and while it takes up valuable realestate, it effectively blocks any attempt to be spied on and sabotaged. ill usually only bu

Yes, yes and yes. As kyro stated, you can kill off a massive amount of a planets' population by spying on a farm..however the number of victims is only as much of the population that is tied to that farm. In other words, if the base population of a normal planet is 6 billion and theres one regular farm on it that increases the population by 3 billion..you can only kill off those 3 billion. That is of course if your spy isnt nullified by that race for more than a couple turns. Any othe
