I better stop posting about what strategies I use. It's beginning to look like each new update is aimed directly at me to ruin my strategies, and make it more difficult for me to succeed. So I have to keep coming up with new strategies to get around their changes. It is enough to give one a persecution complex. LOL

I'll probably keep mine for defence. Espionage has never really interested me in other games, like the MOO series. It's just another level of micromanagement I can do without. Same here,I always found that to be the least interesting aspect of the MOO series. I also will just use them for defense only as I did in MOO. I view it more as an

You do know that with custom race, spending 3 points in soldiering only gives you a 5% bonus since you start out with 25%? Yes, thats one of the reasons I like custom race. I can use those points for economy and morale instead, don't need to use up any points for soldiering with custom race. What I meant was if I use the Yor, for instance, I m

Seeing that list, I'm glad there's going to be a public beta! The balancing is going to be completely shot... Yeah, looks like we will have to completely relearn the game. Some of those super abilities sound way too powerful. I will probably test it on easier settings at first just to see how things develop, and to see how powerful the di

The only loss you'll notice is the 25% Soldiering bonus. Just make sure you pick up the Tir-Quan training to compensate Yeah, I gave them a second look. Not willing to give up 25% soldiering even though I always get the Tir-Quan training as well. I like having as high a soldiering as I can get, because then I hardly ever need more then one trans

I used to take the 70% population bonus, because I built planets with huge populations to get more points for total population, and create super income generating planets. Now that the changes in 1.3 make it impracticle to have high planet populations, I feel it is a waste of time to try to get a very high population, and the more pressing need is to try to find other ways to get high income which have been hurt because you cannot tax as highly and have large populations paying taxes. So now I

Basically, yes, so long as that remains unchanged it would mean that Arceans get the pre-1.2 behavior, while everyone else gets the post-1.2 behavior. Yikes! It may be a good idea not to activate them for my games. LOL What about the custom race? I always use them, what special ability are they going to get?

Yes! Here here, for Darth Nihilus! Just posted another game, it was wicked though clocking in at over 50k. For the empire! Nice going M.B.M., I will be posting a game soon with one of my other characters.

I have decided to change the way one becomes a senator in the Empire. The top 20 scorers at any time will be senators. I think this will give insentive to some members to play more in order to earn and hold onto a senator position. It may also encourange other players to join in order to become a senator in the Empire.

Okay, Master U has turned the Empire over to me by changing the account name and turning it over to me. Darth Nihilus which is one of my character names will now also be the Emperor. At this time I plan to still post under the name of Lord Reaper so that my medals still appear. Put too much work into them to have then disappear from my posts. CragHB, I have sent you a private message on the

In the 'hive society' example there would be no taxes. I know there would be no "actual" taxes because there would be not individual income, but what I meant was that it would be the same as 100% tax because everything goes to the state, the only thing the individual gets is what food and shelter the state decides to give them. It would be like

Master U, has quit. He wants me to run the Empire and said he made me the administrator, however it has not worked, I have no administrative functions. It now says the emperor is "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay", but still has his old characters. I assume "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" is a name that is inserted if an emperor closes their account? Don't know what I am supposed to do. Here is the email he sent me: "listen, after all that happen, I decided to quit, but not

Yeah, I don't build them, and also, when I conquer a world that has an Orbital Fleet Manager, I upgrade it to something useful, rather than waste the space. Same here, the first thing I do after conquering a world is upgrade them to something useful. I always keep strong enough fleets near by to destroy any enemy fleets before they reach my pla

Actually, that's called Communism. I don't think its unfathomable that some sort of world-wide communal system of living couldn't be possible in this futuristic setting... they take 100% of what you make but then provide you with all the things you'd spend money on; free entertainment, free shopping (perhaps with a limit on what you can "spend", i.e. everyone has the same

I don't really understand how multplayer would work in this game. I assume everyone would have to finish their turn before you could take the next? What if someone drops out or takes a really long time to finish their turn. That means you're always waiting on others. Doesn't sound like much fun to me. I totally agree, I am retired and still find

But as the designer of said game, I can assure you that it was never intended so that people could just crank up their taxes to 70%+ and go crazy. Everything in the game was originally balanced on the premise that going above 50% in taxes would be very VERY difficult to do. I thought people were supposed to develop their own strategies. If ev

Nullspace: It is not just that the morale buildings are weaker, they also made it so the morale gets a lot worse then before with higher populations. I believe the cut off point is around 19 billion now, anything over that takes a very serious morale hit making it not possible to get the higher scores for a high population. I would be surprise if you could have a population of 45 billion on a economy planet and be able to have enough stock exchanges to keep the morale at a reasonalbe level, ha

I don't like the changes. Why even use population as a basis for getting more metaverse points if you then prevent people from trying to get a higher population? Makes no sense. Why even bother having morale buildings in the game now? Why even bother having bonus food tiles in the game? They are now useless. No more specialty economic planets. Never was a real need for influance buildings or bonus tiles, there are much better things to do with the space. Seems to me, thi

What the heck is a Space Orca? What a silly name. Why not the Space Dolphins, or the Space Gold Fish? The Galactic Diplomats is nearly as bad, I am not a diplomat, I am a warrior, a conqueror. I chose the Galactic Empire, because it has a Star Wars theme and I always play as a Sith Lord. I am staying where I am also, but I may stop playing metaverse games anyway, at least for a while. I want to play casual games with mods, and the settings as I choose them, not as they are in 1.31,

Yr score is lower beause:- 1. U lowered the difficulty level from crippling to painful. 2. U played a year less, missed out on more points from increased pop. growth, economy, military and research. I think if u had stayed at the same level, plus played 1 more yr u would have got 60,000 - 70,000 pts. 1.31 still lower than 1.2 but only slightly so

Yea, 1.3 is brutal in the scoring department. The thing is, if 1.3 was all about "balancing" the game, then they should have "balanced" the scores as well. As it stands, using 1.2 offeres a HUGE advantage in the Metaverse. That doesn't sound very balanced to me. My point exactly.

194 Replies 140,264 Views

I just finished a game with 1.31. As I expected, I only got about half the points I would normally get on a gigantic map after 5 years. I tried going back to my last saved game to try to stretch it out for another year or two in order to get more accomplished, but my only opponent kept declareing war after a turn or two then surrendering. Those still using 1.2 are going to have a big advantage IMO.
