Anyone still having DGM Errors

I've tried catching up on all the DGM errors but I'm sure I have missed some. So if anyone is still experiencing any errors related to the Drengin Game Manager please post them here. Actually first I suggest downloading and installing the latest version 0.66a (Build 0.66.74) which can be downloaded from: http://storage.stardock.com/files/dgm_066a.exe

If you are still experiencing problems please post them here.

Well, ever since I installed the .66 DGM, I get a couple of errors on starting up my system. I know that smartexception crashes, and I think the name of the other program that crashes is MCP something. This happens on both my work and home machine.

I have downloaded and installed 66a.

SmartException still is not working for me either. MCPCLIENT dies during boot.

Well, I'm seeing the MCPServer fault mentioned above. The onld version of SmartException that was used briefly to track down WB problems does work though if it's reinstalled.

Other than that, the only problem I'm having is the inability to stay connected the the Drengin.net server long enough to download 50+ MB of files.

add me to the last one.
I've been reconnecting 10s of times and I'm about halfway.
please help.

I had the same MCP error. I had installed the old one, which worked. I tried to reinstall the old one over the new one, and the old one didn't work, either.
So I uninstalled smart exception completely, then reinstalled the old one. I can now use the old one.

Still can't run MCP after a complete uninstall which included manually deleting the registry entry. The problem is the same I described below.

I am not having any 'problems' with DGM, but I would like to know where the apropriate place to send suggestions is.

On boot, I always get an "illegal operation" crash of Mcpserver. About 1/2 the times I get one on Smartex.

Frankly, I don't want this stuff running every time I boot, even if it wasn't crashing, as they would be tying up system resources to no purpose. If it is stuff I need to run with the Drengin game manager and/or GalCiv, then it should be launched then and closed out when they close out. How do I disable their launch during the boot process?

I had a lot of trouble getting Drengin to stay connected long enough to download the 50MB GalCiv beta myself. I persisted, and made it on something like the 4th try. I suggest just letting people who don't really care about the Drengin thing just download the game in a zip file from a normal server.

Here are the details from the boot crashes of mcpserver & smartex:

We have fixed the errors with MCP Server. However its not actually part of the DGM and we do not have the functionality built into it to auto update the MCP Server yet. So as soon as we have a new build of DGM available the MCP errors should go away.

It's launched at boot because it was originally designed to troubleshoot more than just Drengin.net.

The first version that was available to people outside Stardock itself was used to troubleshoot WindowBlinds and WebBlinds, bith of which launch at startup, and the original intent (according to the four or so posts in the SmartException newsgroup) was for it to be a general purpose troubleshooting utility, not just to debug Stardock software, and if that intent bears out, it will eventually need to catch problems at startup for whomever else uses it.

I have no interest in WindowBlinds and WebBlinds, though, just in GalCiv. So, any time I'm not running GalCiv I don't want these (to me) useless programs running in the background consuming system resources. What if every game developer put something like that in when you installed their game? That has to go!

I happen to like the way SmartException works. I have WindowsME which gives absolutely no report as to why an application crashes to the desktop. This makes it almost impossible to send a report to, say, Symantec when Norton AntiVirus crashes. SmartException captures the data for me and gives me something meaningful to send them.

This is something I have not seen any other game/application producer create and ship. I need it!!

Jack

I am receiving the Run Time error 13 - Type Mismatch error when starting DGM. I am running 0.66.74 and have run drengin.exe /d. I noticed that it stops with after Read UserData, and after seeing values after that in a previous post, have noticed that I have not been prompted to enter any user info like the SN(just a thought that may be from left field). Any assistance is appreciated. Below is the debug.err file:

Anyone who is getting the run time error 13 error as described above....can you please download http://www.drengin.net/temp/drengin.zip

Replace your drengin.exe file with the one in the zip file, run it with the /d parameter and then send me the debug.err file.

Thanks

I think mine is still erroring at the end of an install...completes the install but errors at the end.

Also it gives Run-time error 9 "subscript out of range" if the server is not online.

Please run drengin.exe with the /d parameter and send me the debug.err file
