The "Joys" of Working at an Accounting Office Right Now....

Only a Day to Go...

I am now truly insane. I am also on a (in my mind) a well deserved break. If I have to answer one more phone call about whether the 8879 E-Filing Form is only for Federal, or if it is for both state and federal, I am going to scream. If I have to file one more three-inch thich file, I am going to cry. If I have to copy one more return, or show one more person where to sign, I am going to quit.

Of course, I know none of that is logical, not only because there is still one and a half days left, but because I know that most of the insanity will continue even after this tax season is over. Extensions will be filed, and even though most of those aren't due until September, the work involved can get nasty. At least I will have a 2.5 week break when I go to Thailand. Even if I do screw myself up over there....

This morning a woman called, and wanted to know why she had to mail in her payment even though her instructions said not to. Actually, the instruction said not to mail in any of her tax returns because she had e-filed her taxes, but she took that as she didn't have to mail in the money she owed. I became so frustrated with the woman, who would not accept my explaination, that I finally interupted her tirade, and turned her over to her accountant.

I'm so sick of having to answer those type of phone calls.

We actually got a call in this morning from a "new" person that asked if we could do her taxes. I laughed out loud. My four bosses, all CPA's have been staying extra late (I mean late as in early morning) to complete the returns they have from clients that have been coming in the past few weeks. There would be no time, period, to fit this woman in. Why do people wait this late to do their taxes???

Is the 8879 E-Filing Form for federal, or is state included?

And, people wonder why there should be a federal tax at the register instead of mailing in a form. As Dr. Guy stated take a deep breath. Also, beware there are more out there in the forrest just waiting to come into your world.

Good luck, and enjoy your vacation.
