Heard about the Poms landing at Tullamarine, and asking the taxi driver to take them to Ramsey St??? LOL LOL

BTW I wonder what the owners of the homes in the closing credits get paid for having their homes on TV?

If you have HIV, you are not allowed in the country (even for a visit).

Send us your poor, tired huddled masses, as long as they don't have THAT.

Um, that was actually changed to read: "send us your well-connected, rich, and huddled misses" by the current administration.

Wow...I actually went there on a family holiday through the US in '85. We only passed through, but what I do remember is that we stopped at a level crossing just before a freight train went through. All the cars behind us did a U-turn and drove off, and we thought, whats going on?? 178 wagons later, we knew ;) ;) . That's the only reason I can remember the name Roanoke.

I visited a college roomate in Roanoke once. The valley is prone to flooding, and when I was there it rained so hard the Locomotive museum literally floated downstream!
Love the Blue Ridge Pkwy!!!

Yes, unfortunately this area seems to have a very large flood plain. But I live on high ground!

I know which crossing you were at!!! Everybody gives up there and does a U-Turn. Not a very pretty part of town, though.

Roanoke is a railroad town. Seriously, it was pretty much built by the railroad. But the industry is dying, so Roanoke is trying to attract high-tech and banking industries here. It's not too bad. Unemployment is pretty low.
