The Fellowship Halls (Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread)

Welcome to the Fellowship of the Ring Empire Thread - The Sequel. :)

The old FotR thread was getting too big and it was taking too long to load the thread, thus this new one.

Since this is the first post, I will reproduce some of the more important links for our Empire.

The FotR Website : http://www.angelfire.com/rings/fellowshipgalciv

The FotR Metaverse Empire Page : http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=329 (use this page to join)

The Metaverse Review (Theoden) : http://metaversereview.joeuser.com/

The Galciv Blog (Ray) : http://ray.joeuser.com/

A big welcome to all from Ray the Wanderer.
Enjoy your stay here at the Fellowship Halls. :)

Oh--ok Theoden. I did not remember the periodic forced recount (most of us RB types are not that long in the tooth around here) :)

So we progressively lose our past "good months" (where big increases in the score were made) (:(

On a completelly different subject, I have a question:
Wraith 717 posted in the bug report thread that "when you have traded for trade goods and that civilaziton gets destroyed you lose those. This used to not happen"

I didn't know that! It makes protecting minor civs more important (if you bought the trade goods from them).

Can anyone confirm that? And if so, do you know if you invade one civ you keep the trade goods you bought from them? And is there a way to know if a civ has produced or leased a trade good?

Thanks! I didn't have a lot of time to find any pictures. Just too busy here at work. I think the Review is much better when there are photos...

It's probably nothing more than a Metaverse-wide recalc.

I think ours was the only one, at least SF's score didn't change at all. :notsure:

Yes, it's scary! :SURPRISED:

From the Metaverse Review:

Many have noticed a decline in their empire's score. It is thought that a Metaverse-wide Recalculation may have occured during the server work on January 28. If this is so, overlords who have not submitted in a long time will have their scores recalculated, dropping their scores due to the degrading formula. This will cause many empires who have a large population of non-submitting members to notice a significant drop in empire score. Though unverified, this phenomenon has been known to occur and affect the Metaverse from time to time.
End of quote

Since SpecFor has around a 100% activity rate and no players who aren't submitting anymore, they aren't seeing the same degrading of scores that the 'older' empires are (MWC, Fellowship, GROSS, etc)

Accidentally hit Enter! Doh!

I stand corrected, sorry. :notsure:

The empire score is relatively more affected by decay than the individual metaverse score. This is because the score is divided into 30 day blocks with each "old" block experiencing a 5% metaverse decay each 30 days. The personal profile score, which is used in team competition (Top Empires), has a 10% personal profile decay per old block each 30 days. In other words, there is more of a penalty for inactivity in the empire competition than in the individual metaverse scores. Hope this helps. :)

When I joined the FotR, we were number 2 behind the Pirates, then were number 1 a long time. Our heavy recalc means FotR empire is not only a great place to be active, but also a great place to retire. Now . . . submit some games and recruit new members. LOL

Ack! Anywhere here an long-in-the-tooth Metaverse player can retire? Thinking of changing my nick from Wild Wombat to Old Wombat, sitting back on the porch, goin' fishing, reading Tolkien... ;)

Ouch, the recalc sure took off a bunch of points from the Fellowship.

Well, it's not surprising though as we do have quite a few dormant vets.

That gives me an idea. They should give a medal to players who have submitted games for a year running. :)

OK, tomorrow I will finish that gig maso for another 60k. I certainly don't want to become a "dormant vet" - is that contagious? :D
