Why is that almost all of you ACguild chickens have attrocious spelling - and when you're pulled up about it you don't even bother to listen or try and correct your errors??!!

You may want to try good punctuation and capital letters in appropriate places but I could be wrong. Though it does make for better reading.

I'm with Trina....all of you girls from that school are awful spellers.  Do you understand how important good spelling is?  Potential employers and colleges look at things like that.  Not being able to spell even the most basic of words like 'bored' makes you look (and I'm being brutally frank here) like a dumb-ass.  Not good. 

Oh, and it's not funny either.  Spelling is the most basic of skills....even my 8 year old spells better than you chicks do.  Does your teacher not teach you anything, or are you all busy chatting or sleeping in class?

Well...let's see...yeah, you're right....I need to tutor these guys. Our decent speller list includes Alex, Sam, Andy, and myself...out of 9 people that sucks. Tsk, tsk guys...you're making our school look bad.

HEY! Gee, you just leave me out Shaun. I'm a pretty good speller. Unless of course I'm half asleep when I'm typing something. I have a B+ in English thank you very much! So I guess my spelling isn't that bad is it? I like how you think of me. It's always the super-smart kids that get all the credit. I can't help it I only get average grades. Sorry you guys don't have any C's or anything, but you can give the kids like me that have basically straight B's some credit.

Ok, sorry about that. Hehe. I just thought I'd say that to you Shaun. To see what you would think. But hey, seriously, I'm not a bad speller. I don't think Brandon really is either. It's Satan we have to worry about. God all mighty! Her spelling is so aweful that you can't even tell what she's saying! It's outrageous!

Who's Satan? - Ashley you have your moments and so does Brandon. I think the biggest problem is as I stated before that none of you bother to correct your mistakes when they're picked up, instead you either ignore us, or lament about being picked on woe is me.

By the way - it is my experience having done 13 years of school including 5 years at highschool and a class about Phonetics and Communication at university that spelling has very little to do with English - as a subject. Teachers assume that by the time you've hit grade 10 and above that you know how to spell basic words, you know all about nouns and verbs adjectives and greek/latin roots and they can get on with HOW to use them - writing stories, resumes, disecting plays, newspaper articles, poems etc.
I know that we stopped having spelling tests after grade 7 - I think you need to familiarize yourselves with dictionaries, thesaurus and a little thing called spellcheck.

In this day and age it's really easy to pretend you're actually intelligent.

So, are you failing all your tests?  Because I cannot see how you can pass them spelling the way you do.

Yes, everyone gets spellings wrong sometimes.  But, what you're exhibiting here isn't the occasional error, it's a total lack of even basic spelling skills.  The thing that really gets to me is that you think it's funny.  Is it funny to be a moron, a dumb-ass?  Is it hilarious to get turned down for interview after interview and college after college because you do such an atrocious job on the applications?  How about when you have kids - will it be funny when your child asks you for help with their homework and you can't help them because you can't spell any better than they can?

You are the future of America, and that scares me.  If you and your lack of concern for your education are what this country is relying on.....well, we're screwed.

There is not one single profession in the world that doesn't require a basic knowledge of english (and probably maths too) That means you need to know how to spell or how to use a dictionary or spellchecker on a computer. Not one single job in the entire universe that won't require you to write something down at least once.

Particularly Law Enforcement -- which Dharma knows ALOT about.
