Mid-game 10% PQ improvements wanted

Like the title says. I find it odd that there are NO mid-game PQ improvements. There's 2 just about right in the beginning and then NONE show up until WAY late almost endgame. That makes no sense since if you're near the end of the techtree you're most likely going for the tech win and will barely be able to take advantage of those improvements. I definately think the game needs some mid-game PQ improvements because even as it is now the best planets I can get most of the time are 24 after the 2 PQ improvements. Every so often in a game I find a RARE planet that is 26 or so (it ends up 31 or so after I add the PQ improvements) But still it's a bit rough getting just a 24, with increasing population etc morale drops as it keeps growing. Well just something I had to get off my chest other than that I have very FEW issues with this excellent game.

Keep up the good work and updates (don't listen to those folks that don't want updates) I LOVE updates and patches, especially when they add new functionality. It's like getting a brand new game in a way.

This all depends on the order of your research!

If you research towards the Terraforming tech (ignoring military, research and diplomatic techs)then you can achieve it in midgame. On easier AI levels I sometimes do this, especially on smaller galaxies with few planets. It's all about balancing your style of play versus the AI approach.

Keep in mind: they just removed both late game PQ boosting effects, I'm hoping they realise the folly of this approach.

I never liked the terraforming much for my part. Terraforming was way too expenive to build. But you can always mod it back in.

Terraforming and the terraformer are still around, they removed the +10 PQ bonus 2 late game techs gave.

Ah, glad to hear they're still there. Guess I'll mod in the PQ changes into the late game (even tho I hadn't noticed them before, I think they're a good idea).

Do you think this has to do with the AI not colonizing sub-15 planets? Reducing the number of mid and late-game PQ bonuses limits the utility of sub-14 planets that the human can snap up virtually at will.

Probably also has to do with the fact that by the time you can research them you can quickly complete a tech victory. Therefore the only time you get use of them is if you dissable (or stop before) the tech victory or go for a high score. Removing these makes sense. Perhaps extra PQ bonus NOT on the tech victory research path could be added.

Solitair, that's one possible solution.

Right now I'm livid that I'm paying over 94000 research points for the same thing that reinforced hulls does for 220 because of their "balancing".

Perhaps a whole 3 way split at the end of the tech tree: military path leading to Excalibur, infrastructure leading to PQ bonuses, and tech leading to transcendance. That way you have to balance where you want to concentrate to get the win you want.

I would like to see them perhaps nerf terraforming down to a +10% and move it earlier in the tech tree (It should cost more than the soil conditioning and habitat improv techs). Then, add one (Perhaps +15) 2/3 of the way through. Nerf the ones at the end. They really are pretty useless at the end. In my first game, I only researched em for the points then the entire torian empire revolted over to me and I got a culture victory anyway. They ended up useless. Those end pq techs were useless you deliberately didn't end the game to rack up population points (boredom which I am unwilling to pursue) which they adjusted the metaverse so it counts that less anyway.

But 95000 is too much for what is really less than the same thing (I don't think they compound the bonuses) Nerf it completely or give something to make it worthwhile.

I'd be happy with a few PQ +5% scattered out along the tech tree. Could prove useful to both me and the AI, and it seems a long haul from the initial PQ +20 to the Terraforming. At least, for how I play.
