And I want to agree with what DrJBHL was saying about getting back to the good old days.  Tom, you have been a great part of that, and with Dcrew57 and other's help, we can get there.

One big part of theme's that I always appreciated were when they were fully developed in the way that they included CursorXP's.    I always thought that made most themes feel rounded out.  Of course, ObjectDock's and other things can even go that extra mile; but for me, the CursorXP's really rounded out things along with Rainmeter's.

At this point, I tend to fish the CursorXP directory on WinCustomize for some design of a cursor I think matches the theme, then hope I can adequately recolor it so that it goes well with the theme.  While this is doable, it's not ideal. 

I wish I had artistic talent and the technical knowhow to develop them myself, but I don't.  I know Tom typically doesn't design CursorXP's, so if anyone who does design them, I kindly suggest and ask if you could ask Tom if he were open to you working with him to the end of designing one.  Perhaps you could charge for your efforts rather than release it free. 

 

I hope this message will be received in the spirit it is intended.  All the facets of what Stardock offers are important not only to myself, but everyone else that is buying Object Desktop or some combination of standalone products.  I only hope for participation to increase in building all aspects of the applications.  If the community who are capable of making these assets go ahead and do so, we all will be better off.  There is nothing more than I and so many others would like to see than for that to happen.

RnD recently posted that he was planning to start skinning Winstep, Cfx and doing some blinds again. I really hope he does.

I'd encourage you to pm RnD, Digicoma regarding learning. Jim's a great guy and hopefully he can get you started.

Tom, I saw what you did with "Digital".  It was nice being able to apply the CursorXP to the theme.  I might go ahead and also try the icons later.  

But DrJBHL, I wouldn't be opposed to learning.  I don't know what tools are needed, but it is something I could try a little while down the road.   Right now I'm in the middle of a move and a few other things, but once things settle down I could give it a try.
Don't hold out too much hope though, as I've never been someone who draws or paints or does any other kind of art.  My whole life, starting with art classes in primary schools, I drew and painted so poorly that I never received any encouragement.
Strangely, all these years later my Stepmother is a quite good professional artist, and my wife does some art as a hobby.  My Stepmother is in her 80's and is mostly retired now from painting (save the occasional art show she'll make something for), and she lives about 400 miles away.  I wouldn't be able to learn much from her about color and other things that I'd guess would be good for knowing how to put together something that was pleasing to the eye.  But the technical stuff I could reach out to RnD and see if I can pick that up and wing coming up with some workable artistic vision.

Perhaps I just don't know enough about what's all involved.  All I know is I know what I like when I see it from others.

Well, I made that CursorFX 12 years ago. I still need to learn how to make them again, but I will try. :-)

Thanks Lightstar!  I actually found the wall on my PC.  It's called Neon City, but I don't know where I got it from.  It doesn't show up on a Wincustomize search.
