Crashing when talking to different aliens

I often experience crashes, seemingly when in the same game session, I try and talk with a 2nd alien type. The 1st one loads in just fine and quickly too, but I may as well just restart the game if I want to try and talk to a different type. This also pretty much made it literally unplayable at the very beginning, when you first talk with a Scryve and then the game immediately makes you talk with the Tywom you helped. I had to revert back to the earlier version just to get through that part.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Is this happening only on the opt-in? 

Does the game crash to desktop or does it become unresponsive?

It would help if we could see what's in your runlog.txt file, it is located in ...\Documents\My Games\Star Control

If you would upload it to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, so I can take a look at it.

My game also crashes on most conversations dialogues, amongst other locations.  Probably crashes about 4 times a game session.

Right now I can;'t complete the game as it involves speaking to all your allies one after the other in the final mission - and it crashes right at the end.
