I HAD PURCHASED sos VIA STEAM, PLAYED AGAINST AI. now i want to play online but steam says it had stopped registration. and i shall play directly online.
my question is how to play online, is there a link where i can register ?

What version of Sins of a Solar Empire did you buy? The current supported version for online multiplayer is Rebellion.
i bought trinity, empire entrenchment, and basis sos.
I believe you can still play that via LAN and using a virtual LAN with a friend. But really, if you want to play online I would recommend getting Rebellion. It comes with all of the content from the previous expansions too.
i got rebellion, and able to connect online, but there is no one there to play with, as always 13-14 games are going on,
not sure how to join any game. please help.
Sins of a Solar Empire can be played with up to 10 players over the LAN or Internet via Ironclad Online.
