planet and ships missing after latest update

after update and new DLC I can not see my planets or ship

After getting the new update a the Villains of Star Control I started a new game but my home planet can not be seen nor my survey survey ship. I can issue orders and administer the colony but I can not see them. The rest of the map looks normal and the sphere of influence for my home planet is present as well as the path for my survey craft I restarted the game several times and choose a different race and I still have the problem. I loaded a previous game and it works fine. Anyone else having issue or have an idea of how to solve it? Thank you in advance

Something could have gone wrong when the game was being updated. Have you tried verifying integrity of game files?
