Every time I try to start I get the same error

When I try to start the beta I get "Unable to initialize graphic system.  Video card unsupported."

 

I re-installed, re-downloaded.  Had it re validate its files.  Now I am looking at settings.   

 

I tried running it on my laptop (it is a POS), it would go to the game menu where I cold select fleet combat and such and lock up.   On my desktop (much better machine)   I get to the play menu and it gives me this error after I click.  My processor is i5,  video card is a GTS 250 (will be replacing in a few weeks with GTX 1050 TI.   

I am pretty hyped to play I really enjoyed SC 3.  

 

Any ideas? settings I can change?

Have you updated your video card drivers for the GTS 250?

ran every update I could find.

updated driver last night for video card. (still same error)

Followed the suggestion of erasing the settings.ini
