Eating the Asteroids

I built a ship in the Crafting section...and for some reason, when it's an NPC, it basically commits suicide by going to the ring of asteroids on the edge of the battlefield and starts crashing into them. And, of course, this makes the green cloud slowly kill it.

 

Now, I only have a guess, but I suspect that it has to do with the parts I used; maybe there is an alien race in the main game that is immune to the green clouds and gains power by harvesting the rocks...? And the parts I used drives the AI to do what it does?

Just a guess.

Looking at it a bit, it doesn't appear to be only that one ship that does it; there are a few others.

One or two are custom ships, but there's also that green squidgy one...you know the one I mean: it's green and goes all bulgey like it's a living starship or something...? Oh, let me look it up; I don't have the names memorized yet.

 

The Pinthi Contagion, that's the one.

 

It doesn't seem to benefit the ship in any way to go grazing the asteroid ring around the circumference of the battlefield, but there ya go...

I haven't had a chance to download and test your ship, what weapons have you put on it?

I'm betting it's a game spoiler and that's why nobody from Stardock has answered. Like I said in the OP.
