Hidden relic?

Hi,

In the ending of the game I've just been playing, a formerly rather useless civ was given the last 10 planets of an enemy they'd been fighting (just before I  got round to (mis)appropriating them) and then presumably had an economic event which i missed - the relic I suppose.  In any case they, the United Earth, had just activated 50 turns of peace so I couldn't make a preemptive strike and in the course of about 12 or fifteen moves skyrocketed above me with numerous planets having several hundred production. 

I had something like 60 planets to 18  but they still went first in production and military (the latter only allegedly since my ships were huge and theirs only large).

I was wondering whether there was any other event which could have triggered this or whether I'd missed the event  in the welter of information or perhaps the notification has got lost in this build?

If the former, then since it's so utterly vital please could we have a splash screen like the ones regarding wars so that you can'r miss it. If the latter then obviously it would need fixing.

Has anybody else experienced this?

From your description it sounds like the mega event The Artifact. Search around their home system and you should see it.

Ah yes it's called the Artifact not the relic. I've finished this game but I will have a look at some point - didn't know that it was always in the home system.

In that case.  it would be nice to have a huge splash screen regarding this rather than just a small notification. Obviously, when it occurs, you have to take them out immediately - though whether  it's then a reasonable game mechanic that they can activate 50 turns of peace at that moment or continue in those 50 turns is another matter.

There is a splash screen, it tells you who got the artifact and gives a choice of three ideological choices.

Ah I see. I do remember some choices but failed to read the screen. Will take more notice in future.
