Cancel Open Borders (Noob)

So, I got the random event where class 25 planets appear. One showed right next to one of my existing planets, well within its sphere of influence. However, in a monumental act of poor etiquette, my close friends the Terrans sent a colony ship they had buzzing around to settle it.

Now, I don't want to go to war over this, but even if I reload the game I can't beat them to it. My understanding is that culture-flipping is highly impractical, and they probably won't sell such a planet cheaply. But if I could kill our open borders agreement, that might stop them (although maybe not).

Canceling the open borders treaty won't do much. Although to cancel a treaty go to diplomacy and then the treaties page.

You're best bet would be to either but the colony ship from them, ask them to remove their ships from your space or use a constructor and build a culture starbase near the planet.

Seeing as it is in your influence it would probably not take too long to culture flip.

Thanks for the advice. From what I've been reading, culture-flipping doesn't work too well anymore unless you go crazy with influence buildings.

Culture flipping still works fine if somebody tries to colonize a planet that is well inside your established "territory" (ie: deep inside your influence colored zone).
