Thanks for posting about this. I asked about it during a recent stream, but don't think I posted here about it to follow up. (maybe I did, i forget!)

Still hasn't been really clarified whether this is intentional or indeed a bug. If it is intentional, I just may dig into modding a bit to change it, I have already found it in the xml files. But after finding it, I really hadn't decided to go any further hoping it was a bug to be fixed.

I do mostly avoid the skill until I can't anymore.

Confirmed the bug affects all units that get the "benefit" of Quickfire. The most important unit, namely the hero Peregan the Ranger, misses his crucial turn 1 where his abilities are most needed, replaced by a auto attack based on the A.I's targeting... This radically weakens him, almost to the point of being a dead on arrival unit, since he can no longer use his essential skills turn 1.. Borderline Gamebreaking bug, but as usual Stardock doesn't give a dam even if it would be as easy as sin to fix.. Confirmed this bug has been around since atleast July 2015, regardless of what the supposed "experts" at stardock say when they "fixed" Quickfire.

Yep, looking like this is an intentional nerf at this point rather than a bug.
