Drone Blue prints?

Ok, only recently started using carriers as I was told they were better.

Is there a way to define the drones? Also I believe Guardian drones are the best?

It would also be nice to be able to select different types of drones (missiles,kinetic/beam).

If you are talking about modding the game: yes, they are stored in the ShipBlueprintDefs.xml under the names:

DroneFighterBlueprint (Interceptor Drone)
GuardianFighterBlueprint (Guardian Drone)

If you are not asking about modding, no, I don't think there is a way to define them.
