Hi folks
Just purchased this game, but can't find anyway to play via LAN only - without letting other players on. Just want to play within my local group and not via the internet. Can it be done? If so, how?

There's not a distinction between LAN and Internet play. If you want to keep out strangers, you can launch a Friends Only lobby.
Oh what a pain that is. We regularly play stuff like Settlers IV, Civ V, etc, which allow you to not only play offline, but on your own network, without having to rely on the internet. Not everyone in the UK has access to a high speed internet connection, in truth, I am lucky when I can get 10mbps.
Also, it means having to create a steam account for everyone too.
Sheesh, really badly thought out. I'll keep the game, but can't recommend it for this reason.
The game will still run on your LAN, so it doesn't require or even benefit from high-speed Internet if you are playing with friends. Everyone will already have a Steam account because that's the only way to buy the game...
