Economics Model is Broke

Economics

I cannot create an economics strategy that even gets me to mid game with Gal Civ III as it is presently constituted. When I play the Iridum civ the economics are okay but I get run over by virtually every other civ. I use to be able to win at least 1 out of every 3 games but I am 0 out of every 100 games. I have been playing Gal Civ since you came out with the original game, but I am very frustrated with the current game.

I dont get people that have issues economicly with this game. The model is far from broken.

Do you build Eco starbases, 4+ per system?

Do you create Trade routes?

Do you make wealth planets?

Do you get Tourism?

Its even easier now wiith the Promthieum Refinery, +8 cr, do you build them?

What difficulty are you playing on?
What map size?
How many opponents?

What exactly do you mean by economics strategy? Do you mean never going negative? Do you mean a strategy which mostly substitudes manufacturing by rushing buildings?

Well, there are others who are creating successful economies, including myself, so  I have to conclude it is not entirely broken.  If you want help adjusting from GC2 to GC3, you are going to have to describe some more details and provide some accuracy.  For instance, I doubt you have actually played 100 games of GC3 and not had even one moment of success to brag about.  I am pretty bull headed at times, but I would have yelled for help long ago.

If what you really needed was to vent, then that has happened.  I am not sure what else you want from your post.

I have been playing on "immense galaxy", normal difficulty 6 opponents". I have been doing some of these things named above but not all of them at the same time. The Promtheium Refinery seems to be a must have. I have noticed that on the immense setting you cannot trade until later in the game because you are normally to far from your any neighbors, which can be fortunate thing if they are very hostile. Thanks for the info, I will apply it.

I would suggest a few more AI for that size map tbh, or, have Minors on, they are a good source of income if you turn tech brokering off plus you can set your trade routes up to them initaly and change them later on if needed.

Do you modify the global sliders as you play.
