Windows 10 and games

helping a friend

I'm gonna help a friend build a computer. Is Windows 10 good for gaming? What about older games compatibility?

yea, but I thought maybe Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 were more compatible with older games.

Maybe I should ask this way: You want to play games from 2007 and newer. Which version of Windows would you install?

I know Win 10 is popular on Steam. But if you load games from physical discs, maybe Win 7 is better?

Windows 10 is in my opinion better for gaming than 8. I was a die hard Win 7 Pro fan and the sturdiness and stability of Win 10 won  me over. Its lightweight like 7 but without the annoying shit that is in 8.

Also, you can get Start 10 which turns Windows 10 back into Win 7 (desktop wise). You also get DX 12 which is the selling feature in my book.

I am leaning toward Windows 10. Seems most games work. SafeDisc and SecuROM DRM games won't work. But Microsoft patched Win Vista,7,8 so they won't work there either.

I have windows 10. Most of my stuff works perfectly, but a couple of my steam games don't work on it. Though to be fair they didn't work on windows 8.1 either. Supreme Commander 2 and the 10 year old version of star wars battlefront are two I know don't work. Everything from GOG and Origin work. Also, everything that I've bought that is like 4 years old or newer works perfectly.

Ah, it looks like that is my issue in both of those games. Thanks for the heads up!
