I just got owned by an AI science victory at turn 171

Hey,

today I played a 9 random godlike AI immense map and thought I am in rather good shape, a few turns later (171) I was greeted by the "defeat" screen.

My first suggestion is that when you lose a game - let us know who won the game! I had to dig into the replay and take over the AIs (localplayer #) to see that it was a science victory by the Torians (not 100% sure).

One thing I realised in this game: You need less science to research your techs when you avoid meeting other species. The Torian guy just knew 4 other species and had 2k science output (17 planets). Can you verify that?

I attached the save/metaverse-link if anybody is interested (there were 2 custom races).

Godlike is crazy with the 300% production bonus vs the 100% for Incredible.

I've thought for a long time that their needs to be a level in between Godlike and Incredible. I crush Incredible as easily as a 100 kg weight can crush eggs, but I don't really like the experience of being so far behind when I try Godlike. I guess I have to play Godlike and be done with it, but I'd sure like a level in between. A level in between will be lots more important as the AI improves since then Godlike may just crush everyone.

Thanks for the link, I might switch back to Incredible, too. Another option is to only put one ore two godlike AIs in (using random so u dont know which one).

I played a few godlike games like this, but I never was crushed that hard (so fast). I recently changed the game speed and research rate to "fast", maybe that's the reason. I guess I will switch back the research rate to normal for my next game.

Two things why so little species on insane.

Second i would like to see harder ais instead of giving them bonuses.

The game probably ended aww uickly because you sped everything up..

to be honest the research speed doesn't really affect the game all that much its equivalent to having or losing one research building on each planet. if its not a research focused planet it doesn't matter; if it is the difference is negligible

the manufacturing speed might be a little more prominent but only for getting a colony started after it gets going again if its not a manufacturing planet its pointless if it is the difference is negligible
