CBS releases teaser for new upcoming Star Trek series

Art style looks very similar to JJ Abrams' Star Trek films

CBS teaser of new Star Trek series (set to debut in 2017): https://youtu.be/xXpPweAooeE

CBS has previously said it won't be related to the upcoming Star Trek film, and I thought I read it was generally not supposed to be related to the JJ films at all, but judging from the art style, they're pretty much going with the style of the JJ films. Two elements of the teaser indicate this for me despite not actually seeing a starship: the crazy roller-coaster-planet run similar to the ending credits of JJ's Star Trek films thus far, and the stylized Star Trek title similar to Abrams' with a practically identical individual letter-spin-reveal also similar to JJ's Star Trek films.

After Star Trek Voyager I wasn't overly impressed with what came after.  Yeah, the movies has action and special effects, etc, but each lacked something the original  TV series' all had... character building and continuity, a sense of familiarity with the main players.

Having said that, however, I do love my sci-fi and look forward to the new series in 2017. :)

Enterprise was a welcome return to some of what you say others lacked while having it's own shortcomings. I'm a huge fan of the original series. I'm afraid this teaser's nothing but fluff.

We've not watched anything regularly on CBS in years. I'm keeping my expectations low. LOL

Don't worry, you won't see much of it on CBS anyway. Believe just the pilot, then they want you to sign up for their pay service to watch it. Bzzzt, no thanks CBS. All of a sudden getting the commercials is not enough money, now they want us to directly pay them as well, hahahaha.

"What happens when your summer interns do all the work". That's a pretty shitty teaser.
