How is Merc Expansion?

I have been away for a longtime from GC III, but looking at getting back into a great 4X space game. How is the expansion and does it satisfy a lot of the problems from the early days? Improved starbases etc....

Can you clarify what were the problems from the early days for you? Otherwise it's a guess whether I will answer your query. Lots of the early issues have been resolved previously for example.

Improved starbases would be "no" because that's going to be free and supposedly next onn the docket.
