Finally returned to the game after long hiatus

The last time I really got into this game was during the beta.  Played for a few weeks, was mightily impressed.  However at the time there was yet to be more content being put in.  I decided to take a break, well that break became much longer than I really thought.

I saw that it had finally come to gog.com, so I reinstalled and went for a go.  Tickle me excited!  I jumped into the campaign, noticed that new sovereigns were available, choose one, did the beginning civ stuff and away I went.  2 hours later (mind you its very late at night) gameplay was still as I remembered it.  Then I happen upon the garrison tower.  Thinking it was a boss fight against one of the Sorcerer King's lieutenants, and with an army not worth piss, curiosity got the better of me.  The surprise of story content, the dialogue options, and apparently having high enough wisdom option (great feature) had me sitting in my chair flabbergasted!  I have now spent the last 2 days, an inordinate amount of time playing, thankfully not missing work, and look forward to again sitting down and waging war.  I will say though, using the falcon to make contact with other factions before one really would is quite hilarious.  Oh thats a big lake, I can fly over that.

I just wanted to tell everyone at Stardock and Brad thank you so much.  I have a been a fan of the world of Elemental since War of Magic (even if it was not a well put together game).  I look forward to the future of this franchise with the anticipation of 3 year old getting his first ice cream.

Oh, and this game has successfully slowed by resolution to spend more time at the gym.  Just thought you should know ;)

Hi, Crono908. Yeah, like you I picked up SK a long time ago but only got into it after the 1.4 update. I've mostly had a great time with it and am just kind of sad that it's been so overlooked and under-rated. It is among Stardock's better games, imo.

Yea, I made the mistake of coming here and reading the forums and all the salt.  I read somewhere about an update to allow playing as the other factions, improving modding, etc.  Don't know when that will be released though.

I understand after the holiday the devs deserve family time, so I hope come feb or march we get some news.

Also, I want to go back and play some LH 2.0, cause apparently that is live now.

That 2.0 release currently has a bit of a nasty new bug, ZoCs disappear with a rather large frequency. That requires a restart of the game and sometimes will come back the next turn. Then again, sometimes you can play for quite a while without seeing it. Very annoying though.

Besides that, the 2.0 release is pretty darn nice. Some of the modders have updated their mods to support it as well, so big + there as well.

Same here, skipped a few updates, and was pleasantly surprised by 1.4, causing my own up till 3am experience.

Received an Avenger class hero for the first time by one of the factions which I found pretty interesting.  A fast, mounted tank unit with high retaliation skills. Not sure what type of weapon he can use though as I can't equip a short sword with him which I found odd.

The Dwarf you get with the Tinker hero is still incredibly good once you give him some initiative items.  Will be disappointed if the bug still exists where you can't have him dual wield even though the tool tip says you can.

Just got into the mid-late game when I quit for the night, seems to be looking pretty grindy ahead with a 16 stack of units waiting for me, some of which are just one unit, may have to see how well auto combat is working for tougher fights now.

I am curious, how do I increase the damage and hitpoints of my units?  In LH and FE you could upgrade from squad to platoon, etc.  How is this done in SK?

Leveling up will slightly increase stats I believe. The best method is crafting better gear for each unit. Once you craft gear giving better defense or attack, you can also then enchant it. With enchant you can do many different things: +hp, regen of HP, +attacks(base, lightning, poison, fire, etc.), +defense, gain mana, plus quite a bit more that is not popping into my brain right now.

I must concur. I have been super busy and have not been able play the game for about a year. I came back and see that the game has been released and it has already been updated a few times. I am quite impressed with the game. It's super fun and kind of addictive. :P

I sure hope some additional content comes out for the game. I'd definitely buy it. :)

The only negative I can think of is that when events trigger they seem to not wait their turn to fire, so to speak.

Anyway, this game definitely has a Master of Magic vibe to it. Well done!
