Suggestions/things that would be awesome to add (version 3)

First things first. I was a huge critic of the new UI when it came out. I have to say that it has been improved tremendously from when it was rolled out and I'd really like to thank the UI team for doing such a great job in refining it. I really like it now.

Now on to random things that might be helpful to add if they weren't too much trouble:

  • At the moment it's difficult to distinguish the difference between colony buildings that give you quicker launches and ones that give you quicker upgrades. It's the same looking building but one has little glass icons coming out of it and one has electronics ones coming out. Is it possible to redesign one of the buildings to make it distinctive? I love being able to look at the colony and instantly know the little pitchfork things give you quicker patents. The more distinctive the better.

  • It would be helpful to have a "home" button somewhere so you can quickly locate the colony (kind of like the little windows button to toggle back to your desktop and close all the windows). On occasion I've had to hunt for the colony so it would be awesome to click on a little button somewhere to get to it.

  • When you're waiting in a lobby for a game to start it would be awesome to have some way to add the people to your friends list. The steam search engine is horrible and so I've frequently pointed people to the offworld traders group as a way to find me. Don't know if that's possible but figured I would throw it out there.

  • It would be interesting to see a chart breaking out dividends by subsidiary (not necessary but certainly would be interesting)

  • I'd love a loading screen notice to tell people to be patient or a loading bar to indicate how far off the game is from loading. Occasionally the game freezes on "waiting for other players" or "loading game renderer" and it's hard to distinguish if your game is simply frozen or it's just taking a long time because of a slow connection to a player. Some people bail because they think it's frozen and you end up starting with AI's

  • It's still a little hard to read the offworld prices (the blue numbers ex. $350 for a launch) so if the font could be increased that would be helpful. Ditto for the black market prices being a little hard to read. If I had my way the black market including the icons would be bigger.

  • Prior to found the available resources used to be located in the top middle of the screen. When you would click on them it would sequentially take you through all the resources in decreasing order. Is it possible to go back to being able to click on 1 place to cycle through them all. At the moment you have to click on high, medium, and low tiles separately to cycle through them. When you put your mouse over a high tile the cursor blocks the quantity of resources available. It was cool being able to toggle through all of them quickly in one place if that could be added back in (for instance you could click on the price of the resource pre-found and it would cycle in decreasing order).

  • Just wanted to reiterate this one again because it would be helpful to have him back:  "Buckle up! Your martian economic thrill ride is about to begin." Not only do I miss the sound byte but it was always very helpful to have an audio warning that the match was about to start so I can click back from surfing the internet. Sometimes it's lonely in the queue when nobody's playing quickmatch!

This will be "1" when Mohawk fixes it.

Click on the resource icon.

I would particularly like the alarm sound back for when you find a QM. Failing that I run the game windowed and in the background so I see when I have joined a QM (, or i hear the ticking off of founding debt).

Maybe this one wasn't clear. You used to be able to click on the resource icon and it would cycle you through all the high tiles, then the medium tiles, then the low tiles just by clicking the same spot. Now you have to click 3 different spots to cycle. Click the high to cycle through all the high tiles. Then mouse over to click the medium one to toggle all those. Then mouse over to click the low one.

Just a little convenience thing that would be a "nice to have" back if possible.

By resource icon, I mean the one left of the three tile indicators; that has the old behavior. I don't have OTC installed right now though, so I can't try it.

Yes, who would ever guess that little graphic was clickable?

That little graphic is clickable but it doesn't work the same as it used to. I'm not entirely sure what order it does it in. If you keep clicking it goes through all the high tiles and then goes to low tiles (skipping the middle ones for some reason). If they could fix that to descending order then that would be perfect. Also if they could make the popup not so large that would be good too. The box that shows "carbon" blocks all of the resource count when it pops up.

Sounds like a bug! Good catch. I would never have guessed it skipped the medium tiles either; I thought it just jumped around the "resource generation points" from high strength to low.
