Questions from a (relatively) new player

I enjoy Gal Civ 3 a lot so far. I have a few questions if someone can answer:

1. How does trading resources (like durantium) work? If someone trades me some for a turn limit, what happens when the turns run out? I dont think my ship suddenly loses it and is left drifting in space...but it just doesnt make sense to me. Is it some sort of flow variable, like I can use one per turn?

2. Same questions with the other type of resource like "Snuggler colony". Bonus to adjacent improvements? So I can build it on a planet? I just havent seen this option when I have traded for this resource. How can it help me to trade for this? For that matter, how does it hurt me trading it away?

3. In battles, is there a firing rate issue for ships with multiple attack vectors (beams and missiles for example). Can it only fire one of these at a time? I ask because I had a battle where I thought I would decimate my opponent based on all the attacks I had, but I got destroyed, and I thought maybe only one type of weapon can fire at a time (in other words, if your opponent had no shields at all, would you do less damage from a 10/10/10 attack then you would from one 30 attack?)

Thanks in advance for any answers!

1. You don't lose the ship, at worst you will have -1 duranthium.

2. No you don't build them. What you get when trading for them is the empire wide bonus. Physically they are still on the planet of origin.

3. Without more info I can't tell why you lost. Each weapon has a different range and fire rate. Each defense type only works against one weapon type, shields against beams, point defense against missiles, armor against kinetic.

Just to add to Rhonin's comment. range: M>B>K  Rate of fire: k>B>M.  Different techs buffs can change this though.  With the range of missiles vs kinetics, an alpha strike can wipe you out before your guns ever get into range

Thanks for the replies!

So to clarify:

1 - if a ship has say a elerium based beam, and the trade runs out, that beam stops functioning? If so then the game keeps track of where each element was used so that specific ship loses its resourced ability?

I dont remember more specifics on the battle, but as long as there is no fire issue for multiple different types of attacks (like only 1 firing at a time) then I can figure it out. Nice to know the range vs fire rate tho!

NO you need the resource to build it but once built you have it till it gets blown up.  If your trade expires tour resource count would go down by 1 abd you would need 2 mome to be able to  uild another one
