Galactic Civilization III v1.5 Metaverse Feedback

I've had the chance to discuss the Metaverse with some of you in past months. GalCiv3 v1.5 is the first release of our overhauled design that will be shared between several of our upcoming games. I'd appreciate any feedback (good or bad!) about the navigation, ease of finding information, what additional information you'd like to see, and anything else I'm forgetting!

The Metaverse webpage will also be getting the new design once v1.5 is released.

Finally, the v1.5 opt-in Metaverse is missing some art currently.

Thanks!

I see two problems with my scores on the Metaverse.  I have 3 games listed, and two of them are ranked.

The first problem is that the scores for the two ranked games are 0 and 8.  I think that 0 + 8 = 8, but my total score is shown as 7.  How does 0 + 8 = 7?

The second problem is that the ranked and unranked games with a score of 0 indicate the the Victory Condition is Quit.  I didn't quit these games; I was conquered, which is why my planet count is 0.

I really like the information in the Universe tab.  I found it all to be interesting and informative.  After reviewing the Victorious Strategies, I thought it would be interesting if there was similar information about Losing Strategies, since that is the only kind I have for now.

Good question! Please post or private message me your Steam account name and we'll investigate.

It seems we misnamed the non-victory victory condition. We'll get that fixed.

I'm not sure how we'd figure out the losing strategies since we don't know what your intended strategy was. Maybe we could use whichever victory condition you were furthest along with at the time of your defeat. That may be skewed if your empire is being picked apart though... we'll see what we can come up with.

Thanks!

I wasn't as clear as I thought when I suggested losing strategies.  I was thinking about how I have been defeated by the AI, conquest and influence, and wondered how other players were losing.  If the AI can win by all the same ways a player can win, then I was thinking showing a chart of the various ways the AI won would be interesting.  I guess I should have called it AI Victorious Strategies instead of Losing Strategies.

The overall score algorithm isn't a straight up average. It prefers players with more games so your overall score is being reduced slightly for having played only 2 ganes.

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll discuss how this could be implemented.

As long as the score is what it is for a reason rather than because of an error, I'm satisfied.  I guess I'll have finish more games - and win some of them.

I am having a major problem since the 1.5 update. When I click to start the program the Altarian woman and Drengin come up on the screen it appears to load a bit more than it exits to the windows interface. I thought something may be corrupted on on my local drive so I uninstalled the local data via Steam and then proceeded to reinstall GC III. It usually works once or twice and then the problem reoccurs. I need help on this.

I'd like you to try the knowledgebase article for GalCiv, and if you continue to have issues, please follow the instructions in the article for contacting support.

I have solved the problem by uninstalling using the progerams and features on windows 10 rather than uninstalling within steam.

Are there any plans to update the scoring system used in the Metaverse?  It's great having a Metaverse feature; however, the current scoring system doesn't seem to reward good play and so can't really be used to make comparisons.  If you have a look in my profile, the game I consider "best ever" was a Suicidal difficulty victory on a large map in 98 turns but the score was only 5! Elsewhere in the Metaverse there are people with scores above 10,000 in Beginner difficulty games and so on.

It would probably cause a major uproar but i think they should just reset the whole system
