Need PC Help!!!

Hey guys I am in need of some PC help/advice for GalCiv3. Right now I have a decent gaming computer that can handle Max settings fairly well of this game on immense map size with 9 players, Max stars, Max planets, and Max extreme planets. However my computer gets its ass kicked when I go high in the turns of the 2 biggest map sizes insane and (whatever it's called). Anyhow I am hoping you guys can help me with good full PC specs and or setups so I can rebuild my PC (it is due for one anyway) so that it can easily handle insane map sizes. Please and thank you! 😊

Your map problem is likely ram.  Get more than 8gb.

It's all about RAM, the more the better. For Insane, you want at least 16gb or the game will slow down later on. Graphics card is basically irrelevant, as long as it's not borrowing system memory, and any reasonably modern processor is fine, though more cores is better than extra grunt. You could also try playing from an SSD, though tbh I've not seen any real difference in performance from that.

The SSD will only come in handy when you haven't got the ram, paging from a disk drive is brutal.  Ram is much cheaper than faster drive's though.

I run 16G of ram, and I use a 509G crucible SSD.

Well, any current i5/i7 quad core in the 3ghz+ range, or a current AMD in the 4ghz range should do quite nicely in combination with any performance video card made in the last few years.

As a general rule, you should avoid anything that isn't the top end or second stringer when it comes to a video card.

If you're getting a series 9 Geforce, the 960 is already so weak that it barely outperforms a 680 in most things, actually does worse in some.  The 950 is just a dog.  If you want to get a 4k monitor and do gaming at that resolution, your only serious options are a 980 Ti or a Fury X, nothing else has the power without running multiple cards, and that leads to game specific performance and display issues.
