Looks like it's off to a great start

I'm not a huge proponent of the buy before you try video game craze of the last few years, but I definitely trust these guys after thoroughly enjoying Shadowrun Returns.

The original MechWarrior (1989) is still one of my all time favorites, the ability to run your own merc squad with mech and pilot progression, open ended travel across the inner sphere, while still having a story line that you could finish was way ahead of it's time.  If they can replicate something like that only making it TBS instead of FPS, it's going to be pretty awesome.

I'm excited about it. I currently backed it at the $25 level; however, I'm tempted to go up to the $50 for beta access. I've loved battletech since I've been a kid, and I hope it's a great game. I bought Shadowrun: Dragonfall, SR:DF director's cut, and I backed SR: Hong Kong. So far I haven't been disappointed in Harebrained Schemes and Jordan Weisman has been one of my favorite designers for quite a while.

Also, today's update about their plans for the extended campaign, especially the part about contract negotiations excited me.

Ah yeah hadn't seen that yet

"You may decide to negotiate and try to improve a specific clause in your contract, but remember - it’s a negotiation, so improving the terms in one area may cause the employer to worsen the terms in another. Ideally, different employers will have different contract terms they’re prepared to negotiate and “hot button” issues that may result in negative reactions if pressed too hard. We like the idea that over time you might learn the negotiating style of a particular representative, and thus improve your negotiating success rate with them."

Sounds like a fun/interesting way to handle it.  Thinking about doing the beta level too, just not sure i have the time (and patience) for it.
