A clan of dragons, a cluster of spiders, and a sleuth of bears

Maybe it is just me, or the RNG is being friendly, but the Guardians Tame (spell) might be slightly malfunctioning. It succeeds far to often. For example: Taming a dragon succeeds in about 70% of the cases even while they are supposed to resist it with 80%.

During the dev stream I mentioned this in the chat, but Kristin did not read the complete description of the problem and therefor Scott did not really got the problem. However he stated that maybe Mastery levels were influencing the success rate. And i did obtain them when the Tame spell was cast by an unit that was wearing multiple rings of mastery. So there might be something there.

A clan of dragons.

A sleuth of bears (including Ben).

A cluster of spiders (including Bill).

Yeah, I'm going to talk to Brad about this next week. I've come to agree that charmed units should cost Logistics, and think he may be on the same page after seeing some of these charmed uber-stacks.

I actually prefer the success rate being tied to your Spell Mastery (and thus being more predictable), as long as there's a cost on another end.

Scott,

If Spell Mastery influences the success rate of (or resistance to) the Tame spell, can that - somewhere in the UI - be communicated to the player.

Spell mastery is calculated into charm spells and it is reflected in the tool-tip when you cast the spell (at least in 1.1). I stack one of my guys with rings of mastery and spell mastery enchants and he can get most units' resist chance down to 3% (which I believe is the hard floor).
