How to Set Up a Multiplayer Game?

I don't know. I did not even try. But I would like to !

I also have a question in this subject : if I want to have a second account (to play against myself at home or against my "not-really-motivated" girlfriend), can I just buy a second time the game, on my actual account ? Or do I need a second Steam account, before I buy another time the game.

I bought a second copy for that reason too.  I had to open a second Steam account with a different email address.  

Unfortunately, my wife is really, really uninterested in the game.  The second account just sits there.  Maybe one day she'll get on board.

So... how exactly do you play multiplayer? 

1. Deactivate mods.

2. Click 'Multiplayer'.

3. On one PC, pick 'new game' and set up the game. When done with the settings,  hit 'start'. This will put you in the Lobby.

4. On the other PC, wait until the first PC  has reached the Lobby and then hit 'multiplayer'. Refresh the screen til the game appears, select it and then hit 'join'.

Is there people in the lobby to play against? 

I mean, if I'm the only one there that sort of takes away the point of multiplayer.  By definition multiplayer means more than one human player.  

It has been friends playing with friends But I'm open to a game with anyone as playing against a human player is a whole lot different as against a AI. I'm normally availiable throughout the day and evenings (BST/GMT) I'm on UK time but I'm off work till September so I can be availiable at most times of the day just either msg me via this forum or post on here when your availiable and I'll see if I can play? Be warned I'm not the greatest player!

I live in America on US Eastern Standard Time.  Am available at night (after 10 pm EDT which comes to 3 am in London Time).  Perhaps games at 3 am for me and 8 am for you?

How about this Saturday, 2 am US EST (which is equivalent to 7 am London time)? 

What map is good? Is there a custom map for this? Small, two-player map, abundant/abundant with set balanced starting positions?

Can do Saturday as to the map size I'll have to check what we can play on MP? as it also depends how many opponents (AI) you want? personally I would say tiny and small just 2 players (us) whereas medium would support 2 human and 2 AI plus a couple of minor AI? and large (if MP supports it?) would support 2 humans and upto 4-6 AI players?

It all depends on whether you want straight player vs player or mix it up with some AI players mixed in?

Player vs Player.  If there's AI they'll just take up space.

AI is pretty meaningless.  Everyone's going to ignore them and go after each other's throats.  

Three might be fine.  The asymmetry might be odd though.  Also, I can only play for about 3 hours.

Is there a way to save multiplayer games? 

I hope they can be saved. GalCiv MP requires some sessions mostly.

I can host by the way, Im a good host.

The player hosting the game can and should save the game and if were gonna have 3+players  would suggest medium map size upwards? and time lengthwise any time is fine with me

Have you ever played an MP game before? AI is the first on the menu, everyone ignores each other until the last AI is dead.

Oh.  I didn't know that.  Well, as you can obviously see I'm a noob when it comes to multiplayer.  Please take it easy on me.  

I can play 6-7 hours from now (it's currently 7 pm EDT here).   Norseman can host.  Let me know on this thread if that works.  

Sorry I'm late the pills I'm on screwed me up plus for some reasongetting on to this forum has been a nightmare this morning? I'll be in the mp lobby for awhile if anyone wants to join me in a game?

The problem with "3 am Saturday" was I was thinking of 3 am tonight or 12 hours from now.  Let me know if you're here.  I can play now if you're up for it, or in 12 hours.
