Governing Strategies?

Do you prefer to use the governing screen for your empire as a whole? or do you prefer to the governing screen for each planet?

It seems like that using it for each planet could become difficult and micro-intensive. What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

I tend to micro each planet but thats just me. You can do just fine controlling your empire at a macro level and just microing your specialized planets.

I start with micro but as the game moves forward I rely on the ques more and more.

I probably will switch to macro later. Due to my limited time I usually only get in a 150-200 turns between Opt-In builds. I feel the first 10 planets are the most important. After that you can slap down some buildings, turn on auto improve set your sliders and leave the colony alone.

That depends on what type of game I play... I either play a super optimized game or a super role-playing game.

When I play to optimize the empire level governing page is useless and each planet is micromanaged in the last detail. Sliders are usually set at 100% in either category.

When I role-play I only use the empire level governing tab and build my colonies based on what I feel is the best balance and the needs of the people inhabiting that world. This obviously provide me with a greater challenge and is more fun than playing an optimized game in general.

I start with the empire-wide govern screen until I've gotten some planets more specialized. Then those specialized planets will be set accordingly in the planet govern screen, and micro-managed whenever a tech upgrade requires manufacturing to build the upgrades. That's the part I wish they would address: streamlined management of specialized planets.

the first thing i do (turn one ) is set empire wide production to 100% and then never touch that slider again.

after that when i colonize a planet i put down 2 factory's. (i determine their placement on if this is going to be a manufacturing/ or specialized planet)

then i do assembly projects and leave the planet to auto-upgrade

when i get an idle planet warning i check over the planet and choose buildigns base on what the planet should be specialized in and let it auto upgrade

when i get an idle planet warning i check over what i've built and adjust the planetary spending appropriately
