'Pirate' ship type?

First off this isn't a complaint or request. I actually LOVE the new beta, even if it has a few new bugs which isn't Stardock's fault.

Anyway, not sure if this is the right place, or if it's been asked before, but what is the pirate aesthetic when designing a faction? It's at the bottom of the list and the preview ship is identical to Terran.  

I'm just wondering what it is/does. Is it a placeholder while pirates look like humans? In Beta 4 I saw other pirate ships (back when they were just in the game to take over extinct races) and they were just human ships with Altarian materials. Obviously with the material options enabled for custom races, it eliminates that use.

I noticed that too.  I created a custom race with the pirate themed ships.  I then tried them out, and what happened is that my starting ships looked Terran, and when I built or designed new ones they then had new (I assumed the pirate) looks to them.  A minor bug I am guessing.

I am loving the new beta too :D
