Finished my first beta 5 game - You're a cheater

I have, just this minute, completed my first beta 5 game and when the credits came up it says "you're a cheater".

To be honest I was quite pissed off being called a cheater.

I have not used any cheats, the only thing I did was reload when my hero was killed.

I would like to know what constitutes cheating?

I was enjoying my game until this stupid end message, now I don't get a score or anything.

90 views, no replies? I am keen to hear from the developers as, a day on, I am still miffed having played for 8 hours only to be told I had played using cheats.

Hmmm...we have some 'cheat detection' stuff in there (if olayers use /cheats and actually USE a cheat key) but it sounds like that code has gone awry :(  Unless you DID actually cheat...  ;)

We'll investigate & congrats on the win!

Same here. I just beat him and it said "You are a cheater."

Since this is a single player game, why would it matter if someone cheated anyway?

What's the point of including such an end game comment?

If one really did cheat, just typical Stardock humor I expect. Harmless fun, I do believe they want that fun working correctly though.

Reloading a game when you've played further I would classify as cheating.

Highscorelists, morals.

To tell people that they didn't win. They cheated.

I certainly wouldn't classify reloading as cheating. If you want to play iron man go for it I just want a fun game.

The game would be impossible to play without reloading anyway. A it crashes at times and second the battlers are too hit and miss. You cannot alway predict the likely outcome.

for example,

I do a quick resolve battle when I have large points advantage and I end up being defeated. Reload run as my own battle and I don't lose a single unit.

The opposite is also true, run a full battle and get squished with some units being wasted in the opening round. Reload and then run as quick resolve and I don't lose any units.

Also because of the Dungeon Master? If I understand things correctly, Stardock would gather information about how people play the game and then use that to improve the AI. Now, if you're cheating, or using mods, clearly the information that you supply is not going to be worth anything.

So, if they consider data to be not useful then remove from analysis. Easy, but it sounds like their "cheating" system is not working correctly.

It could also be that they consider the players playing the beta to be a cheather, because they get information about the game before the real audience/public.

We, beta-testers, thus has an advantage over the non-beta testers/regular players

:)

The main purpose of that data is for the Metarealm, where a bunch of game stats will be uploaded for people to compare, contrast, and brag over :)  Need some basic cheating tests to make sure that system doesn't degrade into a a useless mess of cheated game stats :(

I have just done a little test

Start a new game - played 4-5 turns.

Save and retired and you're a cheater

I hope this bug gets fixed asap as it is ruining my experience of the game

You assume it means you cheated on this particular game. The code goes much further to detect if you have ever cheated on a game in your life. Does this ring a bell?

UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, START

Just a note that I moved this out of the journals forum section. That is only for developers to post in.

In my mind, I assume Scott taunted Paul one too many times with "your momma is so..." jokes so Paul snuck over and planted this nefarious code in SK. Scott obviously had it coming. Developer pranks are going too far over there; Paxton needs to take back control NOW!

In reality, if I saw this in my game I would laugh and leave it at that. I recognize SD humor. Please do not take it seriously.
