Beta 5 [Appreciation Thread]

Point of this thread to specifically reference those things that you thought were really awesome or excellent design wise. I intend to keep adding to this document as I come across other things I like.

[KUDOS] Nice add to give skill points on claimed shards

[KUDOS] Was able to claim six shards on an arena map and the sorcerer king had zero threat. I hope this isn’t a bug. I always found taking even three shards to be a scary idea and happy to be able to use my high persuasion to convince the SK that I was still his friend.

[KUDOS] Art map is looking great and made the world feel more alive and distinct.

[KUDOS] Glad to see improved quests to gain allies. The quests were a bit silly but I won’t complain about stylistic choices.

I'll throw my hat in here to say that Beta 5, while obviously missing some art items and still a little buggy, is an extremely enjoyable experience.

[Kudos] The art is the best I've seen from a Stardock game and the quest backdrops that were added do a lot for the immersion. Well done!

[Kudos] The flow of the game is much improved and the pace feels nearly perfect.

[Kudos] Combat is the most fun it's ever been in an Elemental game a feels unique and exciting enough to seriously compete.

[Kudos] The skill trees are fun and exciting (save the Wizard!!) and I'm really impressed by the different feel of game play for each sovereign. I'd like to see this fleshed out even further with more unique items/spells/units/buildings though ;)

This is easily the best Elemental game and will certainly rank among the best fantasy 4X games ever. I'm glad to see it'll get the polish and extra polish that it deserves!

I gave it a whirl this weekend; impressive! It's interesting to see how the engine has improved since WOM. When I load up SK, it feels like I'm driving a tuned race car versus some old junker spewing out burned oil. It is really sharp and clean. I also did not realize until now that I could control the camera angle in SK so I had fun zooming in and out on both the strategic map and tactical battles. Anyway, I feel this is shaping up nicely.

I have clocked up 30 hours and I concur this is a great game.

I enjoy the fact that each hero feels different and has very different abilities - something that I didn't get from the other games.

Also I love that it is asymmetrical and that I can come up with my own killer stack or wicked hero.

In my last game during the end fight my dwarven hero drew all enemies to himself and then used at the "twirl around attack" and basically massacred most of the enemy in a single attack - glorious
