Game stays in "Wait" state after Steam update

An hour ago I tried running GC3 and was delayed by Steam's insistence that I update the client.  Fool that I am, I acquiesced.   So now, no matter what saved game I load, I get one turn then when the game tells me to wait. So I do.  Hey,  I got nuttin' else better to do so I wait.  And wait.  Wait some more while I grab a cookie, take a whiz, shoot some pool... all of the above.  But no matter how long I wait I get to go no further in the game.  Now I would be the last to point fingers, but I was playing this game for quite some time with several loads and with no problems so I'm a thinkin' that the Steam update might, just might, be the problem.  Since I have no way to back out of the Steam update I appeal to the GalCiv Gods for relief.    Did Steam break the game, did I break the game, or is the universe aligned against me.  I await your reply.

Do you have another save game file? or previous auto save file that you can attempt to load and does it do the same thing?  If you don't have an auto save file I would suggest that you enable auto save, doesn't really slow down the game and that way you always have a back up in case the main save file doesn't load especially during the beta process.

When the game goes into a wait like that you may wish to force a dump using the task manager and send in the dump and the save file with a ticket.

Thanks, will do.  Btw i did have the same resultz with the autosave file
