Game Breaking Bug - Sovereign "Motivation" ability results in substantial Negative movement points

If you only read one of my bug reports this year, please make it this one.

See the attached screenshot. After choosing motivation, my movement points went down to negative 21 million or so. (bottom left of screenshot)

The end result of this bug is that my stack can't move at all, so this game is over.

I've tried closing and re starting, but that doesn't work.

I can confirm. It's quite annoying and game-breaking because it stops all your units moving, forever. (Actually my first screenshot here too)

That's a lot more annoying than the infinite mana bug, that's for sure. :(

I can't repro this one...once the new opt-in build goes live, can you send a savegame file my way? Thanks!

I'll try to reproduce it later and I'll post a dropbox link to the save if it pops up in the new version.

Many thanks :)  Not a fan of gamebreaking bugs in my features ;)

Sadly I couldn't replicate it today.

Before it was triggered with the Hero Verga (I forget spellings) with tireless march, other speed boosts... all ok so far... and then it was the Sovereign skill increasing moves that broke it last time.

(I say sadly because I would like to pin down that bug... but the unit/skills have changed so I can't easily get the same conditions to test it. I'll certainly keep a look out for other, new, negative-move bugs. I thought it was a /0 error at first, or due to -ve doomsday causing negative moves via the skill. Or some overflow with very high moves. But honestly I'm just guessing at possibilities now)

I'll be on the lookout for it popping up in future builds, but it may have fixed itself before .75 even went live.

The problem with 'dev snapshots' is that they get limited QA and can have some heavy WIP features interjected. I think I was in the 'test and fix' phase of the Tyrant tree when the build was made, so who knows what kind of data you got.

Anyways, counting this one as fixed - 1 bug down, a zillion to go ;)

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss it unless someone on the team can actually say they went and fixed it. Remember that the hero and build in question had 'flying' too, another thing to alter movement and terrain movement costs. If the root cause was never found it's likely that once the same conditions are met again the bug will re-appear.

Marking it down as fixed because things were swapped out and you can't reproduce it... well that's incorrect. A fix suggests the cause is known and has been corrected. Not that the cause is unknown but because you haven't seen it then it's 'fixed'.

I'm not really marking it as fixed...read that as 'wishful thinking'.  ;)

But like I said, dev builds are in a state of flux, so these snapshots that you get may produce a lot of false positives (things that look royally broke simply because they're half implemented). I put around 2 hours into attempting a repro case but couldn't get it to happen. If it comes up again they we can nail down the steps and go from there.

Just thinking aloud for things to try (if you have dev cheat powers and really want to reproduce it).

It happened with a Flying unit + tireless march + sovereign abilities and + unit abilities that modify movement. Try to walk over different terrain (including fire/frozen). I can only try with a seagull, which obviously lacks unit abilities modifying movement.

Also try with 0 doomsday, +200 doomsday and -10 doomsday. (in the event that one quest is dropping the doomsday into negatives and messing up doomsday-linked movement). (also something I can't test as the only flying unit belongs to the wrong sovereign now, for the effect of doomsday on the bug).

I can't get it to happen again and starting with Peregan (to kit out a super, combat-seagull for fruitless testing) makes my skin feel itchy from all the bugs, exploits and imbalances and general oddness.

Yeah, I'll try to repro with Verda as a starting unit and some of those setups. Thanks again!
