Broadsword infantry?

Hi guys, I would like to ask something. I was playing LH today and noticed that altar has access to a weapon called broadsword that they can use to equip their infantry with. However, After I created men faction, I only have access to either: short sword and long sword, or fending sword adn athican long sword.

Is there some kind of preresquite to this weapon, or is this simply some AI-only feature?

It would appear from CoreWeapons.XML that the Broadsword is a champion-only weapon.

Odd, I could have sworn I have seen a unit of athican swordsmen using that weapon...

Anyway, is there any way to mod it to make it available to infantry?

Find CoreWeapons.XML (should be in C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/common/FE Legendary Heroes/data/English/ with Windows and the default install directory), open with a text editor, use find to locate the Broadsword, find the line that says <HeroOnly>1</HeroOnly>, and delete it. You will also likely want to add some prerequisite tags (for examples, see e.g. shortsword).

Back up CoreWeapons.XML before you edit it.

In Fallen Enchantress, the Broadsword was available to regular units alongside the Shortsword, and unlocked by the same tech. It may be the case that this remains true in the FE scenarios as ported over to LH, or in the LH scenario, or for a quest reward unit or some such thing. In Legendary Heroes, the Shortsword became the only sword unlocked by Blacksmithing and Broadswords were not added to another technology, and so the sword line now goes Dagger - Shortsword - Longsword rather than Dagger - Shortsword or Broadsword - Longsword.

Hmmm, I'm not sure but do you guys mean this unit and weapon?

The first time I encounter that unit, it tore into my knight of zanber for 150ish damage.

I'm more afraid of that elite unit than storm dragons and death demons. <_<

Actually, the best of free rider's units is nasty and powerful compared to major AI's units.

If they were an competent AI faction and actually existed as a faction, I would take heavy losses from them, unless they use their Tech haxs to kill me before I can even muster a counter!

Funnily enough though, after fighting that unit's army, I rifled through all the unit customization options only to suffer in despair as I found out that I'm not allowed to have a greatsword unit. And.. I even tried to make Pariden axemen in a gilden faction only to find out I couldn't either XD

Because I found out how much it appealed to me having a whole bunch of soldiers discharge their attack spells before the enemy crashes into them in melee. Has potential to significantly weaken the enemy wave unless they sports high res even when it drained my mana like nuts.
