How to proceed

So I started a new game on a large map with 7 opponents (I'm playing Capitar). It's still very early in the game but I have suddenly come upon a serious dilemma.

Pariden. They started relatively close to me. The issue is that I have no room to breathe. I founded my city and sent out a scout to get a lay of the surrounding lands. All of a sudden, arcane monoliths start popping up left and right, hogging all the good resources.

I declared war just to be able to get some crystal and a couple shards. After a while we made peace.

The problem now is that I'm in a corner of the map with no way forward but through Pariden territory. When my scouts try to pass we get stern warnings and she has arcane monoliths EVERYWHERE!!!.

Do I have no choice but to wipe out Pariden?

You may be able to secure an alliance; I think, though I am not certain, that alliances allow free movement of armies through your allies' territory. Another possibility is to go to war and cut Pariden down to, for instance, a single city and no Monoliths rather than destroying Pariden outright (although this has more or less the same effect, as a single-city computer faction is more or less out of the game if everyone else has many cities).

Unless I'm mistaken, alliances require some later game research tech.

By that time I will be really far behind judging by the rate of AI expansion since the new patch. All AI are set to challenging in my game.

It looks like I will need to wipe Pariden out or come very close to it.

non-aggression pact also allows free movement through territory I believe.

I kinda wish that was noted somewhere obvious in the game because normally a non-aggression pact simply means we won't attack each other for a set period.

I found a solution that had no bloodshed. I declared war then took the outpost that was blocking my way, then made peace again. So for now I can move my units to the rest of the map.

Thanks to you and everyone else who replied though.
