Playing with Alpha 3 tonight I noticed none of the planets I colonized show as icons in the menu. Its just a black circle with nothing there with no planet icon.
This was working just fine before the update.
Proof not readily available but if you colonize an earth-like graphic planet it does show appear as expected; none of the other 8 planets I colonized appeared, just like shown above.
But before the update all colonized planet icons showed up in the menu. Why not now? That is what I am wondering.
Talking to another Alpha tester Via steam chat we looked up the file paths for colonized planets icons and the file path in planet art def.xml thumbnails file paths are missing and were not re-added. This needs to be fixed.
^Your a genius! I thought it was either me going blind or the new invisible icons we have been waiting so long for.

At first I thought I researched some hide your planet cloaking tech. Cant invade a planet if they cant see it, Right?
