Wow! What a fantastic prologue! Your story more than lives up the work of givemesomepienow, WOEaintME. There were moments when I was just like, "Yeah, that did happen in the intro of the original game (the bright white light engulfing the station on Kron, the forming of the TEC) or in the game manual (all of that mining background of the Marza and Kodiaks). And to incorporate all three factions at once in the same prologue was a feat.

I do hope that you continue writing - this is some great stuff. You have impressed me and made me happy that even in the relatively small group of people that hang out on these forums, there are still those who are interested in the game's story and lore. And you were willing to write and expand on it.

Your story of the assassination that took place to combine the Trade Order and TEC reminded me heavily of Babylon 5's assassination of the president of Earth over Io so that the vice-president could take control. Were you inspired by this, or was it an original idea of yours?

Overall, I just have to say fantastic job. And thank you.

First off i want to say wow! Awesome Prologue and first 2 chapters. I want to say thank you for not only continuing some kind of fan fiction for the community but also inspiring me to  start writing again. Chapter 7 is on the way! lol but What a great start to your story i hope you keep going!

The Intro Videos and Game Manual will play a large part in the story's direction (look to see the KOL design agreed on somewhere around Chapter 4)

I've watched Babylon 5 start to finish many times but it never really occured to me until you mentioned it just now. Could be a case of Source Amnesia.

I've completed writing chapter 3.

A few new characters are introduced to add a bit of depth to the stories of the existing characters as well as a scene you'll all hopefully recognize from the Rebellion intro video .

Expect a release by Tuesday, December 17, I need to go through and make sure I like the sound of everything and do some "general editing stuff" between now and then.

After the big Ottawa Sens win last night (yes, I'm a hockey fan) I was motivated to get my editing done today.

That means that chapter 3 is now out!

The site has also been slightly modified, however, all old links and shortcuts should still work. There were a few typos in the first two chapters that I fixed in the latest release but nothing new that would warrant a re-read. Look for a 4th chapter sometime late next week (assuming Christmas doesn't get too hectic).

Edit: I should add that the majority of details are non-canon and that the image will not be included in the story, merely some of the info contained in it will be referenced. 

Work has finally begun on chapter 4 after a little mini break for the weekend. There has been a change made to the type of ammunition used by the Marza. Previously it was using high velocity, tungsten carbide slugs, now it uses high explosive amplified shockwave, M-type mining rounds. The change seemed more fitting as high velocity tungsten is more railgun-like (KOL battleship anyone).

Can't wait to read chapter 4!

A few new characters introduced as the TEC fleet starts to shape up and prepare for an eventual stand against the barbaric alien invaders. I don't have any estimate for when the next chapter will be released (I want to get a few games in on this new Beta) but it should be out before the new year.

Quick change to all chapters. I realized the Vanidas Faction was a Vasari faction name and not a TEC name and therefore all Vanidas characters now have the surname of Vanifax (You may recognize it as a default TEC capital ship name) I will introduce a ship named Vanifax later in the story. The ship will be named after Derek Vanifax, a humanitarian and philanthropist of the old Trade Order.

What is the plural of Stilakus? Would you say it's Stilakuses or Stilaki?

Now, for an early Christmas present to everyone. Chapter 5 is out!

Merry Christmas everyone, Chapter 6 should be out shortly after the New Year. I may not reply to messages from the site or this thread as quickly as usual with Christmas and New Year but I'll certainly be around so be patient and I'll eventually get to you.

Chapter 6 will likely be delayed until mid/late January  :'(

Since I'm pushing back the chapter I plan on adding a full map of the galaxy for reference. I'll likely add it to the front, between the TOC and Prologue. I hope adding the map will make things a bit more clear when I discuss places for both political and military reasons. If the map is too large a size to fit into the story I will have it posted as a separate file. It's possible that the map could be released as a playable map too, if there is a desire for that.

Anyways, I apologize for the upcoming delay.

Getting goosebumps writing Chapter 6. Not sure if it's the -10 °C weather coupled with my drafty window or the content of the chapter but either way it has begun with a bang.

Map is also coming along (As has always been my plan, the Traders will have 6 systems, each with about 10 planets).

Anyways, I wanted to get a bit of work done on the chapter before 2013 came to a close. I doubt I'll get any work done tomorrow (with New Year and whatnot).  Have a safe and happy New Year everyone! 

When I finally finished what was going to be Chapter 6 I decided that I didn't have enough Vasari characters (or Vasari character development). Therefore I pushed the original Chapter 6 back to Chapter 7 and wrote another Chapter 6, one which introduces more Vasari characters and details their roles and struggles (Meaning you're going to get a double dose of chapters in the coming release).

I've also completed the map which is now on the first page of the story (I have yet to play test it but that's my plan for sometime this weekend).

Since everything I had planned is complete, now seems like a good time to post Chapters 6 and 7 in addition to the map.

I hope everyone had fun over the holidays. I'm back to work Monday so we'll see how that affects productivity in the coming weeks

Alot happened at work over the holiday break, meaning the next chapter isn't likely to be released until the end of January. Hopefully the double dose previously released is enough to keep everyone entertained in the meantime.

I don't particularly like the footers I have to define terms so I'm adding a glossary. I'm also working towards getting a pdf exporter that allows me to utilize the hyperlinks in the table of contents (this will also allow me to create hyperlinks from terms to the glossary).

I've also created a cover page to be included in the next release, you can see a very small image below or on the website. It's pretty bland but I felt I needed a cover page, however poor it may be. 

I'm removing the map from the story itself (it resulted in weird behaviour when clicking the hyperlinks which I now have in the pdf). I will, however, add it to the section where the KOL data archive was (that section will be renamed and the KOL moved to a different location).

The aforementioned changes will take place in the pending update.

EDIT: I should add that this is still a work in progress. That model has no texture (obviously) and absolutely no detail whatsoever. I basically modeled it, snapped a screenshot and posted the initial version.

Plenty of new appearances in this chapter as we march towards the magical date 20 years ago.

Just want to inform you all that I'm still alive and kicking. This chapter is taking longer than usual for a number of reasons. Look for an update before the end of the month.

Just broke the 100 page barrier and I'm on track for a Thursday or Friday release of Chapter 10.
