I reached endgame.

And I got kneecapped for reaching it for the first time. <.< Normally games is already won before I even research champion's armor.

First things first, I noticed some things thats possibly bugs.

Regeneration no longer heals a unit back to full in one turn but instead only restores two soldiers a turn, and doesn't heal any injured hero that got immobilized and injured back into fighting condition in next turn anymore.

Then next up, a miitia unit from capitar attacked a conclave of mine and my city's militia didn't even spring up to defend it from attack and just handed the city over to Capitar, Naturally I was e-raged enough to reload because I planned on killing two militia units with my city defenders.

This is militia army attacking Sophitia Conclave.

And this is the battle that happens. Thank god I moved that low level hero Arissa who i just recently recruited into Sophitia so I could screenshot the battle who I wanted to have buffing haste on defenders there.

Now talking about bugs is done.

Then the turn where I researched Champion's Armor....

I was in for a very nasty surprise.

I was like, wait, what it costs a fortune just to outfit 6 guys with them o.o and it requires 99 crystals per upgrade!?

I spazzed out because my income is only 70gpt atm, after cranking out several armies.

And then I decided to take a look at my unit training arenas.. whoops, almost every single unit design I have now requires Champion's armor XD

And then, I researched Magical Weapons next.. oh man xD

Now the supposedly every single generic unit of mine is wannabe heroes. :O Requesting me to outfit them in gold encrusted bling.

And I judged my 33 Iron a turn and 26 crystal a turn to be merely insufficent. <.<

Even my generic Leather armor with spears is now screaming for lightning spears. lol

The ones designed to not use plate armor but only leather armor.

And yes, that is what I meant by me getting royally kneecapped when I reached the endgame for the first time because the whole economy basically just shifted from silly metal to crystals. :O

Then I realized I've been killing tons tons tons of super expensive capitar militas armed with doom mauls for the whole war with me wearing pikes and light plate. <_<

Ineluctable vision sounds nice now, lemme see Capitar sulking in his throne room....

Vision set up and I saw that Pyre of man and Morian is on a date with each other in swampland of Morian. :o

After being distracted by the date is done, I moved over to the capitar then I learned that my planned exploration route revealed that Capitar's capital laid right smack dab in my planned exploration route before I set vision up right just around the mountain range. So I decided to see what's up on why Capitar inisist on spamming milita even when there is other units.

Oh. Oh. Oh i see.

95% unrest! xD  Nevermind sulking, there's anarchy.

Then I became really evil and decided to try nuke any level 5 fortresses with my Curgen's volcano which looked awfully nice tactic to do with my 6k manapool. So I looked and looked and looked and looked, Capitar didn't build any. o.o he built nothing but villages, towns, and conclaves. Capitar sure loves his money.

But I did manage to find a single fortress flying the Capitar's banner.. Calebthon which Morrigan built and got defeated in. and it was halfway through level 4 so I hit it with Curgen's Volcano, surprisingly it got buffed big time in 1.5 patch! It no longer requires 10 turns of casting but now 2 turns of cast time!

Bye bye it went, no possible Onyx throne for Capitar <.< I did that because Militia from capitar was giving me large amount of troubles.

Only to make me discover a new bug, any units targeted in middle of volcano won't get killed but stay alive but seemingly unable to move?

This is the turn the volcano erupted in.

then one turn later xD

Seems like militia is trapped in the volcano, only able to move within 2 hexes inside it, it should be killed to free up some memory.

I'm too tired atm so I'll be continuing this map tomorrow or in few days.

Is there conquest unrest in the city that has no militia defenders?  As far as I can tell for the first 50 turns you're occupying a city, it doesn't spawn automatic defenders, i.e. until you've fully pacified the rebels.

And yeah, the AI has real troubles with the current city unrest system.  This is particularly true on very large maps, which your game clearly is, as the Capitar have 32 cities!  They more or less just cheat their way around it.  One trouble is they are programmed to spam cities as much as possible, which means they make huge numbers of pioneers to always have some ready to swoop in on any available spot.  This means they both seldom get to size 5 cities for Onyx Throne benefits AND end they up with far more cities than they can afford to pay the unrest penalty for.  Additionally there is no priority to build bell towers, clerics, and the like, as seen by your screenshot of a level 5 city with NO unrest reducing buildings.

On upgrading units: the best workaround is to keep your groups to 3 troops until the endgame, unless you really need the extra power.  You can upgrade to the best gear for half the cost as a size 6 troop, and then for a measly 150 gold upgrade the super unit to size 6.  This works well for newly built units as well.  Build all your troops as 3's then upgrade to 6's to save 50% on all metal, crystal, horse, and production costs (minus the 150 gold upgrade cost, of course).  Yeah, it's an exploit, but it works.  Alternately, follow the design intent and only make a few magically armored troops with their high crystal costs and stick the rest in plain plate armor using cheap metal.

The trapped militia sounds like an amusing bug.  I've never used the volcano myself, might have to try it now.

Well, Sophitia is native city I built myself, its my 2nd city and it's never been conquered not even once. I do recall the wolves doing something which somehow made me lose control of Sophitia. All of suddenly it was a Wolves city for some stupid reason so I raged and told the milita to go and attack it and i took it back. But that was ages ago. Probably been at least 100 turns or more. Back when Capitar used to only have 400 points.

And about AIs having problems with unrest.. seems like they isn't even programmed to learn how to tackle it yet. And looks like devs didn't tell the AI to build unrest reduction stuff.

Oh and one more thing, another bug.. Capitar built the merchant bazaar early in the game but, I could build it now for some reason so naturally I built it. So i'm wondering if a city which had it got razed which freed it up or.. something?

When a wonder is destroyed it does free it up to be built again. Similar to your one-of-a-kind faction buildings.

Quoting Ericridge,

Yes in original the end game requires almost only crystals and in extremely huge quantitities. All your units with Plate armor profficiency all require Champion Armor and tons of crystals. I've shifted the balance towards metal in my Patchwork mod https://forums.elementalgame.com/450250/page/1/

So if you try it you will not be abused with excessive need for crystals. Though, the Arcane armor is still expensive.

While modding I also discovered that best AI troops with mauls don't have shields. In FE mauls were two handed, but now they are one handed weapons but units still miss shields. I fixed this in my mod.

I agree. This is because in FE there was no such feature which appeared in LH but no programming was done. I've already made some solutions for this in my mod but plan to introduce a new unrest system this weekend. AI plays much better with it. I need a day or two to test this more.
