Darkling's life is Terrible

I'm not kidding, they're basically uh, fodder of FE:LH xD

Rare times where Darklings manage to get an good advantage over their enemies, they lose anyways.

 

Such particular incident happened where my Ericridge's army was battling off a group of invading monsters to keep them off my first Fortress, it was just four units including Ericridge and I wanted it at full strength and got a Spearmen unit to reinforce it from my Fortress ..

 

So I have one start marching through the route that was recently cleared out by Ericridge's army. But somehow .. I missed a single small Darkling army. It ambushed my footmen successfully I was like.. oh shit well imma do as much damage as I can before I go down xD

 

But as the footmen closed range and started battling, and managed to get at least one Impale attack off striking two darkling units.

As you can see.. I emerged victorious xD

Poor darklings, I think they only can beat up level 1 human units that got trained out of a town o.o

Yes, but the laughing sounds they make indicate this is exactly what they live for...  err die for.  :)  Seriously, I, too, have found them to be underpowered, as well.  My fantasy is to make a few of them loki-likes (from the Fall from heaven mod of civ4).  Create a few of the darklings with very high defense, and a semi-random teleport affect, and a somewhat random 'take temporary control of an enemy unit' ability.
