New Strategy You All should Try, It's WAY FUN

Lately, in order to make my strategy a little bit different, I try to capture ALL my enemies sovereign after I've taken their last city. Sometimes you need to draw them out of their last city before you take it or else they disappear forever. What's cool about this strategy is, it's a great source of gold, because you can sell all the sovereign's extra gear netting 1000-3000 gold per sovereign. I tend to role play, so I attack those of the opposite faction first and then use them in my cities to lower unrest and as rearguards. Those of the same faction I accept as my our hero, I equip them, level them up and use them to strengthen my kingdom or to explore. FUN STUFF, try it you'll like it!

Plus acquiring lots of sovereigns will make your magic phase of the game undisputed might. I had two wildlands charging after my two weak leather armies.. five fire pillars a turn made that monster horde fade to nothingness.

Just demand surrender when they are down to 1 city.

They will raze it and join you without you having to draw their units out and conquer the city.

Give horses to heroes that don't have one yet and then sell the rest.

If you are here, you aren't playing a challenging game.  Just another of the masses playing unchallenging games.

Not the same in that you are much more whiny than the rest of the people, though.

- Edit - In other news, I would really like it if heroes could take out of the horse stash you already have.  Seems kinda funny that you can have 50 horses sitting around and you still have to pay 120 to buy your hero a horse.

You silly, heroes don't ride plebian horses.

They ride royal horses.

Because sometimes the rules need to be changed for the better of the game and my sanity. :))

I tried that on a challenging/challenging game. No matter what I did, the enemy sovereign wouldn't not surrender to me.

They are more likely to accept if you get your main stack near their last city.  Not sure how close yours was.

It also helps to have a score much greater than theirs, which is normal if you took a lot of their cities so they just have 1 left.

I never played on anything less than challenging and they still surrendered plenty of times to me with just 1 city left.

Sometimes it takes an extra turn or 2 to get them to agree to it, but they pretty much always cave when I do it.

It also helps if the surrender threshold wasn't randomly chosen as "never". It's ok though. The fact that they didn't surrender just delayed my victory, is all.

Before 1.5, AIs did not surrender in the first 40 turns after war started. Now they might surrender after 12 seasons.
