Founders/Stardock Q&A IRC Session?

I was wondering if there is a possibility we founders might get a Q&A IRC session with the crew? And maybe post the transcript later on in the Journals section? Just thinking that it might save you guys some time from browsing and answering questions on the forums.

Plus, it's a little extra for the founders, seeing as the alpha is still probably a few months away ;)

What about a Reddit AMA as well since that's all the rage these days it seems?

I like the Reddit idea.

Not to pull back the curtain too far or anything, but yeah -- we were always planning on a Reddit AMA. It'll just be a little while yet so we can make sure we're able to talk about more stuff.

I hope you do it on other media too. I don't have a reddit account and am not getting one either.

Well the good news is that you don't need a Reddit account to read AMAs, and the format makes it really easy to pick out the responses from the questions/discussion being submitted.

Yes, but I don't want to just read ;)

But you want an IRC chat?..... I don't recall an IRC plugin that dictates the text to you :borg:

I don't want just to listen to so no podcast, huh? Videos at the very least with GalcCivIII eye candy to drool over.

I meant, I want to ask questions/reply too :) Plus an IRC applet can be integrated into the site and use a similar login like the Fouder's Vault; Staff and Founders would be able to ask/reply and non-founders would only be able to read (or would not even be able to do that, NDA stuff and such).

Well timing is always a consideration. I suppose one AMA before you're close to going alpha might be good PR and drive sales for the Founder packages.

Any development on this?

Considering it involves typing in an accountname and password mostly, what is the problem? Afraid of getting your hands dirty?

No, I just don't like having accounts I only use once.

I'm not sure how many people these days know how to use IRC.  And Reddit, that place can be pretty rough.

What is Irc. and Reddit. It that a program for the computer or does that come from the operating system. I don't know what that is. I assume its for the computer. Can you define it for me.

I do! But yea I haven't installed mIRC in about half a decade or longer.

If you want to market GalCiv3 and 4X gaming in general to some younger gamers, Reddit would be the place to do it.

Are Irc and Reddit a gaming site like steem. Where you download games from.

IRC is an old chat program. People used to chat to complete strangers, or friends they knew in real life. I suppose it was the facebook of its time if you can call it that. It was all text based of course and all you could do was chat. It was a great time-waster. No downloading of games.

Reddit is "the frontpage of the internet" as it calls itself. If you don't know about it, it's better to keep away from it I suppose :P Although there are some useful things to be done and read there, there are other parts which are not so nice. Still no downloading of games.

EDIT: Oh, and a Q&A session sounds interesting. I'm not sure I would be able to participate due to time zone differences, so a transcript is essential! I also would prefer it to be done in a way that everybody with GalCiv forum accounts could participate instead of creating an account somewhere else. I don't have an account on Reddit either...

We are still hoping to do an AMA at some point, but in the meantime I'm putting together a community Q&A that I would love for you to participate in.

I remember using the IRC facility StarDock provided for the GalCiv test cycles in the past. Since it had a targeted use, I found it was very good and appropriate. I don't think I could stomach a facebook approach. I think it lacks the monitoring required for communicating bugs and other test results. Also, isn't facebook the one that limits you to 140 Characters? Some problems will certainly take more than that to describe and explain.

But I don't even know what Reddit stands for (it is an acronym, right?), what its intended use is, or how to use it.

I've never done an Alpha before, but I also agree that it would not make sense for Stardock to limit the size of the Founders and Betas  comments.

Twitter is the one that limits to 140 characters per tweet.

We do have another option, LP some GC2 on Twitch and do it live. Then show off some random GC3 stuff or show GC3 for a few minutes in action to tease us. You can take questions from the chat.
