[Suggestion] Show us what happened in the previous turn!

I have a lot of pet peeves, and its true, but among them are supposed Turn-Based Strategy games allowing for strategic depth (versus the APM fests of RTSes) ... but for some reason its been accepted you are limited to seeing moves on screen.  GC2 and some other TBSes will zoom around the map to show moves, but you really gotta stare at the minimap to see where the action is taking place and keep all the action in mind.

Why the heck not simply have a system for showing what transpired while you are taking your next turn?  Could maybe be in the form of a 'replay last turn' button which will replay all unit moves (within your unit detection ranges) with your current view (instead of jumping around to all the action), or alternatively maybe togglable arrows showing path advances , maybe markers (also togglable) showing where unit engagements are and maybe at least some small icons to indicate whom attacked whom, whom was destroyed and some indication of how much damage the victorious unit took in the engagement.  This way, we don't have to worry about blinking during end turn processing/automove completion and missing what happened.

I don't know if anything like this has been tried in a game, but its something I've felt could help reduce gameplay frustration.

I hope some consideration is given for something like this ... though I know there's a lot of noise on suggestions for the game.

I was considering this idea as well.

I would like to be able to replay events 1 step at a time (like 1 ship moves somewhere), pause events, etc, much like I would if I was playing video. I would also like to be able to pause things so I could view stats. I would also like to be able to skip over certain events, like having several dozen fleets attacking the same starbase (you can't count the number of fleets, so it seems like it takes forever to complete).

I also would like to be able to wander around when things are paused, allowing me to see the map and figure out where things are happening at.

I'll settle for not having to click through half a dozen pop-up windows each turn... there should be one pop-up window of everything interesting that happened where you can browse the list, filter it, etc.

But I agree it would also be nice to see where combat happened in the galaxy, if it was within sensor range, and not just having to put your camera somewhere that you think might be interesting and pray as you clicked the "Next Turn" button.

I would guess they'll go with a side notification system like FELH or Civ 5 have, which is kind of the newer way of doing event notification, and which I personally like a lot.  Or some hybrid of that and classic GTN, or options for a mix, or....nvm.

In GC2 I always wanted an undo feature for ship moves because I'd occasionally misclick and send a ship off into oblivion or something.  Since it's turn-based I don't see why something like this would be a bad thing.  :P
