"Blocked"?

Sometimes I see the popup floater text "Blocked" over one of my units in tactical battles. I have no idea to what this refers, since I am unaware of any blocking mechanism in the game. What exactly is going on, and where can we see some modicum of documentation about it?

I think this means that the difference between attack and defense was such that 0 damage was given - the attack was blocked

I thought that was the feedback for "clink"?

good point...  I don't know the difference between block and clink.  Maybe they are the same but flavor text as different.

Blocked - no damage was dealt by the attack

Clink - only 1 damage was dealt by the attack

Both of these are armor effects, and appear to be somewhat random. They do occur more frequently when facing high-defense opponents while your units have lower attack scores, or when your high-defense units are attacked by units with poor attack scores.

Really? Thank you!

I find that odd, however. I was under the impression that "clink" meant no damage was done, at least that's how it seems to me. I will sometimes see "normal" feedback of "-1" (the floating integer) above an enemy when 1 damage is done, and I sometimes am of the impression that no damage is subtracted by "clink" attacks. Be that as it may. I was hoping there was a secret blocking mechanism used by shields (until I got "blocked" by a bowuser...).

"Clink" and "Blocked" are in some ways like a critical success or failure by the attacker, or a critical failure or success by the defender. So while under normal damage mechanics you can have attacks that deal 1 damage, "Clink" is more like an attack that should have done no damage that actually did a little or an attack that should have done a lot of damage that barely did anything, and "Blocked" is the more extreme case.

I don't believe that a clink results in any damage.   I'm pretty sure I'd notice a guy's hp going down..   Clink and Block result in no damage.  Clink and Block are like critical misses that occur and no damage is given

No, unless they've changed it, Clink results in 1 point of damage, and Blocked results in none.
