Did something change in the map generation?

So, I tried playing the game for the first time since the last beta version, and in four games, I saw exactly zero "Weak" monster groups, every single nearby quest was "strong", and every single settleable "second city" spot was guarded by mobs that there's no way in hell to take out early game.

Was I just incredibly unlucky, or did something actually change in map generation?  if this is "normal" behavior, then this is pretty much totally unplayable.

Normal.

Oh, and I started again, and even though this map was playable, I still didn't get a single weak mob.

You could still be incredibly unlucky. Actually, there aren't that many 'weak' lairs. Most wandering mobs are smaller than the lair mobs, so you'll see more weak groups roaming the map.

Some medium monsters are still fairly easy, like the bear cub and most groups consisting of multiple weak units. Whatever you do, stay away from the Butchermen...

If I am playing on Challenging or lower difficulty level, if I find a roaming army with Forgotten Martyrs and Butchermen in an AI territory, I will suicide large numbers of scouts to them.  Such mayhem!

Until they annihalate your own pesky threat of an army, right?
