Steam Trading Cards

Seems Valve is really trying to push the Steam Trading Cards, and I admit it is intriguing.  Looks like it is the developers call whether there is steam cards for their respective games.  Will FE:LH ever get some cards?

I'd also like to see FE:LH offer cards, as many other games such as CivV, Shogun II and Torchlight II are now doing, as well as fully utilizing other features of Steam such as the Workshop.

Agreed.  It would also likely bring more people to the game, as there are many that would want to collect all the cards.

I like the trading card system... because it's really easy to sell them to other people who want that extra fluff for their profile. Even at 20 cents a piece, I've got the potential of a hundred cards to sell, that could be $20.00. Sounds like a couple games to me!

It's just another achievement time sink, and as such good for those that enjoy it and pointless for others. If you got cards and aren't one of those achievement hunters, I suggest you flog the cards asap as the prices will plummet.

I dont care much for the cards and would like more patches to be honest. But i also hate the whole achievement thing so it's a matter of taste i guess.

Btw if one is only after the card drops you could just open the menu of game xy and run it in minimized mode, card drops still occur.

FE:LH went on sale on Steam today, and according to the Steam site FE:LH features Steam Trading Cards. Has anyone gotten any, or is it not yet added?

I can confirm that the badge is now showing up, gonna crank up the game and see if the cards drop.

Also noted that Sins now offers cards as well, but the drops are less than half of the total required for the badge.

Yes. I just got a Queen Procipinee card :)  Looks like there is 15 in total of which 7 drop in game.  You need to trade for the others I guess.

update: now I have Delin

What do the cards do?

You use the cards to create a game badge, which adds 100 xp to your profile. You get them via playing the game, voting in the Community Choice deals, and randomly added to your inventory via booster packs. You can also trade for or buy and sell them on the Market.

Right, you get a background, an emoticon and a random card. Also, the chances for rewards increase with level.

I received a Lady Irane and one other that I don't know what it is as I haven't encountered it in game yet. Which means I now actually have something in my Steam Inventory. B)

I'm due some more cards from voting, but only once I level up my Steam account, whatever that means. :maybe:

You won't actually get any cards from voting until you reach level 5.

Well, it's a nice gimmick, but things you get for using and buying games a lot are there primarily to keep you playing and keep you paying with regards to Steam (like what they do with MMOs)...  Even with Gamersgate, I've never really used their XP and Level Up system.

So, anyone else get the badge for LH?

Good job on the background banner!

I have all my card drops, now have to wait to get lucky with boosters for the rest of them. I'm not really interested in the cards for most games, but Elemental is an exception.

I did some wheeling and dealing, sold and traded extras and cards from other games. Managed to complete 5 badges so far during the sale, and made a couple of bucks. Sins and LH are tough to complete, 15 cards compared to 8 or so for other games I play.

I've sold most of my cards, but the ones for Endless Space weren't selling, so I decided to buy the rest of the set with the money I made from other cards... and the rewards it gave me sold for more than the price of the 4 cards I bought (I made something like 20 cents after the buying and crafting). Color me surprised. I guess if you really wanted to, you could meta-game the system and craft badges for games with expensive rewards... if you're in to that sort of thing.

I have absolutely no concept of trading cards, their purpose or their entertainment value.  I have no conception of it.  I remember younger kids playing things like pokemon and magic the gathering when I was a kid, but no one I knew did that stuff.  And when a game mentions it having anything like that I tend to avoid it.  I don't understand trading cards at all.  I had a friend once when I was 10 who wanted to trade baseball cards.  I didn't really understand the fun of that either.

So now I am slowing building up this pile of Steam cards that exist only to annoy me.

There is always a use for Trading Cards even if its just trading.

This of course only appeals to certain people, but maybe those people didn't want to play FE_LH before? That would mean more business and since it doesn't cost them technically anything except card designs, why not?

I've recieved Kul-Al-Kulan and Vetrar so far.

I just want to ignore the trading cards altogether.

That's certainly your prerogative. It's almost like leaving money on the table though. I find it very easy though to take 10 seconds, go to your Steam inventory, click on each card, hit "sell" and price it at the current market value. Bam, instant cash. I've just about acquired and sold all my cards... final tally is around $16... that was almost a free pre-order of Shadowrun Returns.

God damn you for making a logical argument.  I guess I am going to be selling cards.
